Although black bears are common in the eastern Canadian province of Labrador, grizzly bears—often similar in color, but much larger—were believed to exist only in the western provinces. Despite a nineteenth-century explorer's account of having startled and narrowly escaped from a grizzly bear deep in the woods in Labrador, modern scientists find no physical evidence that grizzly bears have ever lived in Labrador. But recent research into the language and legends of the Innu, a people who have lived in Labrador for thousands of years, reveals that their language has words for two different kinds of bears, and their ancient legends attribute different characteristics to the two kinds of bears. Therefore, there probably were grizzly bears in Labrador, and the explorer's account probably accurately identified the bear.
The conclusion that grizzly bears probably were in Labrador and the explorer's probably accurately identified the bear seems at first glance reasonable by showing the evidences that a recent research about the Innu from their language and legends told two kinds of bears. Nevertheless, further research reveals how groundless and unconvincing the recommendation is.

In the first place, there is no evidence to see that the bear which shows in the explorer's account is the grizzly bear. Perhaps the bear the explorer's escaped from is another kind of bear just look like the grizzly bear. The argument simply considers the bear to the grizzly one.

In the second place, the argument fails to show how the recent research be done to have the conclusion about Innu. It is probably that the language and legends of the Innu which they studied not contains all information and maybe it is too difficult for nowadays people to wholly understand what Inne said, and this all could get the wrong idea to say the bear in Inne's legends one of the two kinds bear is the grizzly bear.

Moreover, even if we assumes that we have a well understanding about the Inne's language and legends, it still can not prove that the grizzly bears once were in Labrador, maybe Inne people moved from other land through thousands of years and their ancient legends we get is about the life before they immigrate. So the bears according to these legends though are the grizzly bear seem not existed in Labrador.

In summary, unless adding more supporting information, introducing more relevant factors and carefully consider the reality of the bear existent, the argument lacks credibility and persuativeness as it stands.

BLESS~~~
