There is a tendence demonstrated in various realms such as academic, social, business,or political that people participating in those areas are consider more in the practical point of view rather than an idealistic one.Do pragmatic behavior guarantees survival,whereas idealistic views tend to be superceded by simpler more immediate options,as the speaker contends?In my point of view while pragmatic behavior may ensure survive in the short term,idealistic view is crucial for any organization to thrive in the long term. Examples from different endeavors can aptly illustrate my point.

To begin with considering the academic area which by its nature require commitment in one's pursue.Without idealistic views no one can persist through the rigid scientific research,and bring something of real significance to  us.To substantiate this contention one just have see the example of Thomas Edision who is such greatest inventor in the world that he had accomplished the most patent of the US history.Someone may assume that it is his unique talent and inspiration that contribute to his success,but voluminious chafts can  prove the fact that all his invents were based on strenuous work and persistent pursue.Had he abandoned his research for the light buble facing the numerous failure and turn to research other things that can make profit in the short term,how can he invent it?So it is his idealistic in making the world a better place to live and also fulfill his first thought.

Secondly let consider the business area which is ostensibly the most pragmatic arena.From the daily works of the exacutives of various company, which is paying attention to the buttom line and maximizing the profit for the stock-holders, it seems that idealistic view is on a speror position to the pragmatic behavior. Maybe this contention is propriate in the normal time,but when a company confront a seemly unsurmountable obstacle it is the ideal of the leader which serves as a conviction,add courage to not only the leader but also the subordinants.On the contrary if the leader has no ideal in his or her mind in such dilemme will choose to surrounder.

Finally,when it comes to the political reaml things become no different.Although it seems that the main objection of contemporary politic is to  being elected and reelected that is on the short term survive rather than any responsible to the public even the constitution.But history experiences inform us that it is the idealistic views that sway the mass,incite the revolution,and bring political ideology reality.Without the US founder and the Martin Luther King the American may be still the colony of the English and black Americans may still be relegate to the back of the bus.

In sum,the examples from various endeavors can prove the contention that while pragmatic behavior maybe ensure survival in the short term it is crucial for any leader to remember that without an idealistic view in mind the endeavor will become a failure in the long term.

To begin with the author only imply that the Clearview has a spectacular natural beauty while fail to describe it precise as what kind of nature.Some people like to live beside the river,some people enjoy to live near the sea and still some people perfer the sight in the mountain areas.The information provide by the author is so vagu that people can not make up their mind.Furthermore the author also fail to consider there are some person who enjoy the interest of skin will perfer a cold winter with snow instead the consistent climate.Without ruling out this posibility the recommendation can not be pervasive.

Secondly the fact that the housing costes in Clearview have fallen significantly during the past year and real estate tasses remain lower than those in neighboring towns may serve as a disprove factor rather than substantiate the author's contention.Perhaps the reason for the lowering costs and the relative lower is because of the inferior condition of Clearview in compared with its neighboring towns.Especially considering the fact that the retire people often choose a more comfortable place to retire rather than save their money in choose the location .So unless the author can provide evidence to prove the reason of the bonus this recommendation is still unpersvasive.

Thirdly the author contend that the mayor of Clearview promises many programs to substantiate his contention.Firstly they are just promises so whether they can be realized is open to doublt.Assuming they are realized the evidence in itself is still problematic.After all some of the programs such as the school have no relation to the retire person.

Finaly the fact of the greater physicians in the area than the national average can not ensure retirees in Clearview can expect excellent health care.Because  just greater than the average in number of physicians than the national average can not signify the superior of Clearview serving as a retire location.Perhaps other location are also greater than the national average and even more than Clearview.Without the comparison amoung Clearview and other locations this recommendation is still unconvicing.

In sum a myriad of problems render this recommendation unconvicing as it stands.To substantiate it the auther has to provide more information concerning the climate and the nature of Clearview.To better evaluate the recommendation the auther have to provide more information about the reason  for the bonus and a comparison amoung Clearview and other location is also desirable.
