At various times in the geological past, many species have become extinct as a result of natural, rather than human, processes. Thus, there is no justification for society to make extraordinary efforts, especially at a great cost in money and jobs, to save endangered species.

Whether should society try every means to protect the endangered species? And if so, is it justifiable to protect the endangered species no matter what the cost is? Some people consider that people should protect endangered species, while others disagree that it is reasonable to protect at the cost of a great cost in money and jobs. As far as I am concerned, people should protect endangered species because there are some reasons, however, when it comes to protecting endangered species no matter what the cost is, I disagree the society should do so.

To begin with, some people think some endanger species should be protected, as three reasons, as discussed below. Firstly, by setting some money and energy aside for the sake of endangered species, people can exculpate. It is a scientific fact that there are enormous species that die out because of the influence of people. For instance, deforestation will damage the balance ecosystem, and thus cause the disaster to both animals and plants.

Second, people have the ability to save the endangered species. For one thing, some kinds of species are so vulnerable that they can easily be damaged by the environment and society. For another, the power of people can easily have a significant influence on the environment, and in turn will affect the living of species.

Thirdly, by protecting endangered species, people can protect themselves and their offspring. As the development of technology, there are increasingly environmental problems that caused by the misusing of the technology, which cause put the living of species in jeopardize. Moreover, people even damage the environment intentionally which bring about serious consequences for not merely species but people themselves.

With regard to those who disagree that society should protect endangered species at the cost of the significant cost in money and jobs, there are two reasons for them. Firstly, the ecosystem itself has the capacity in keeping balance; therefore, people don't have to intervene the activity of ecosystem. As it is said that species evolve according to the theory that species evolve by the natural selection, which means the stronger will survive after competitions with the comparatively weaker. As a matter of fact, species can evolve by competition. Therefore, people need not take every means to protect them.

Furthermore, although society should protect endangered species, it is difficult to decide which endangered species should be protected with higher priority. When it comes to the economy interest and species protecting, people should decide which kinds of species should be protect firstly, however, it is difficult to do so. Generally speaking, people are willing to pay more attention protect the pandas and tigers rather than some smaller but endangered species. It is understandable when people do so. But who can justify that it is reasonable for the balance of the whole species in the kingdom of animals and plants? Nobody knows the answer, therefore, people should reflect before protecting endangered species at the great cost of the jobs as well as money.

To sum up, society should protect the endangered species since human should be partly responsible for the endangered species. And people can exculpate, and in fact they have the ability to do so. Moreover, people can protect themselves and their offspring by doing so. However, when it comes to protecting endangered species no matter what the cost is, society should consider which species have more merits which not only cater to the requirement of human, they should also investigate the role in the ecosystem.
