埃及金字塔
Of the 7 wonders of the ancient world, the Pyramids at Giza are the only ones remaining, they are over 6000 years old and are constructed from over 25 million tonnes of limestone. The pyramids were built as tombs for the pharaohs Khufu, Khafre & Menkaure, who as teenagers formed a popular hip-hop trio (possibly not true).
The largest Pyramid was built for Khufu (aka DJ Cheops), Pharaoh of the Fourth Egyptian Dynasty, and was constructed by nearly 20,000 workers who worked year round for decades. It was originally 481 feet high, but has since lost 30 feet due to erosion.
Following to the southwest is the Pyramid of Khafre (aka MC Chephren). Although it is smaller, a steeper angle results in the illusion that the two structures are the same size. In fact, Khafre’s pyramid appears taller since it is on higher ground.
The final, smallest pyramid is that of Menkaure (aka MC Mycerinus). There are also various other smaller pyramids for the pharaohs’ Queens which can be identified using this map.
To the east of the pyramids is the Great Sphinx, the largest single-stone statue in the world. The Sphinx has the face of a man (possibly the aforementioned Khafre, but sans nose) and the body of a lion.

天安门广场
Inside Beijing, lies the
Forbidden City
, the location of the Imperial Palace during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is the world’s largest palace and features a six meter deep moat, a ten meter high wall, five halls, seventeen palaces and 800 buildings with a total 9,999.5 rooms. Quite big then.

Tiananmen Square
is just to the south of the Forbidden City and lies between two gates, the Tian’anmen to the north and the Qianmen to the south. In the centre is the 38 metre high Monument to the People’s Heroes and the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong.
The black splodges all over the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square are the thousands or tourists who visit each day.

罗马竞技场
The Colosseum
(or Coliseum) was built in 72 AD and is 160 ft high with 80 entrances. It held more than 50,000 spectators and was actively used for gladiator fights for 400 years.
The Colosseum obviously featured in Ridley Scott’s
Gladiator
, although was digitally recreated to its former glory.

London Eye
The
London Eye
is situated on the South Bank of the River Thames. You can see for 25 miles in each direction when the capsule is at its highest - an amazing height of 135 meteres. The wheel can carry in excess of 15,000 passengers each day, and is one of London’s biggest attractions.
According to the
official site
it is not a Ferris Wheel, ‘… for three reasons, firstly that its capsules are enclosed, secondly that they are positioned on the outside of the wheel and thirdly that the whole structure is supported by an A-Frame from one side only.’

埃菲尔铁塔
The
Eiffel Tower
needs no introduction as we’ve all seen it a thousand times in pictures, movies and TV. The odd angle of this aerial photo makes the tower seem sideways and upside down but you can’t miss the great shadow.

跑道上的尸体和球员的影子?
Another landing strip in Iraq which, like most of them, has been made unusable by placing sandbags at regular intervals along the runways. But who’s that dead body on the runway?

Here at GgSs we get a lot of submissions of clouds, but they are mostly pretty unexciting. That said, I really like this shadow formed by a cloud over
Munich Airport
. Can you (like me) see the footballer, facing east, about to kick the ball? Or, (like submitter Sebas) do you see a traveller, walking east, carrying a handbag in his right hand?
