Argument38
------题目------
The following memo appeared in the newsletter of the West Meria Public Health Council.
'An innovative treatment has come to our attention that promises to significantly reduce absenteeism in our schools and workplaces. A study reports that in nearby East Meria, where fish consumption is very high, people visit the doctor only once or twice per year for the treatment of colds. Clearly, eating a substantial amount of fish can prevent colds. Since colds are the reason most frequently given for absences from school and work, we recommend the daily use of Ichthaid, a nutritional supplement derived from fish oil, as a good way to prevent colds and lower absenteeism.'
------正文------
Merely based on unfounded assumption and dubious evidence, the author draws a conclusion that people in West Meria should use Ichthaid each day so as to prevent colds and lower absenteeism. To support the conclusion, the author points out that people in East Meria where fish consumption is very high rarely catch colds. In addition, he asserts that the most probably causes that people take a leave for school and work are colds. Finally, he indicates that people should use a nutritional supplement derived from fish oil called "Ichthaid" daily. However, these alone neither constitute a logical argument in favor of the conclusion, nor provide compelling evidence making the argument sound. The author ignores such key issues, which must be addressed to prove. In my point of view, the argument suffers from several flaws.

In the first place, the author assumes to establish a correlation between the fish consumption and frequency that local people catch colds. Yet, no evidence in the argument is stated that to eat a substantial amount of fish can prevents. It is possible that people in East Meria eat another food, which can truly be benefit to prevent the colds. There is another possibility that people in East Meria take exercise much more than people in West Meria, so that the immunity of East Meria is better than that of West Meria. Therefore, if the author doesn’t provide other evidence, he will fail to convince me that there is any casual relationship between eating fish and preventing colds.

In second place, the author asserts that colds are the reason most frequently given for absences from school and work. However, it may be not necessarily the case. There are many other possible reasons to take a leave, such as injury, headache, and so on. At least, the author should provide a report which shows the statistical evidences on all the reason for leave from every school and company. Only after that, we can believe the author's assertion that colds result in taking for a leave in most cases.

Last but no least, the author recommend the daily use of Ichthaid. If we concede that to eat fish can prevent colds , and colds are the most reasons for the leave, there is no other evidence provided that we should choose Ichthaid as the nutritional supplement of fish oil. For example, people in west Merria can learn from people in East Meria to eat more fishes daily. And it is also possible that the price of Ichthaid is too much high, so that most local people can not afford it. Maybe they will choose other products to substitute for Ichthaid.

To sum up, the argument seems to be plausible; in fact, it is neither sound nor persuasive. Not only does it leaves out such key issues, but also cites in analysis the evidence, which does not lead strong support to what the author claims. To make the argument more convincing, the author would have to take the conditions mentioned above into consideration. If the argument includes the given factor guessed above, it would have been more thorough and adequate.

The author ignores suchseveral other key issues, which must be addressed to prove in order to prove his claim. In my point of view, the argument suffers from several flaws.

In the first place, the author assumes fails to establish a correlation between the fish consumption and frequency that local people catch colds. Yet, no evidence in the argument is stated that to eat a substantial amount of fish can serve to prevents colds. It is possible that people in East Meria eat another food, which can truly be benefit help to to ommited prevent the colds. There is another possibility that people in East Meria take exercise much more than people in West Meria, so that their immunity of East Meria ommited is better than that of West Meria. Therefore, if the author doesn’t provide other evidence, he will fail to the arguer can hardly convince me us that there is any casual relationship between eating fish and preventing colds.

In second place, the author asserts that colds are the reason most frequently given for absences from school and or work. However, it may be not necessarily the case. There are many other possible reasons to take a leave, such as injury, headache, and so on. At least, the author should provide a report which shows the statistical evidences on all the reason for leave from every school and company.this sentence is not so good since the convincing evidence is not necessarily certain statistics Only after that, we can believe the author's assertion that colds result in taking for a leave in most cases.

Last but no least, the author recommends the daily use of Ichthaid. As a tc, it would be better to state more intensively If evenwe concede that to eat fish can prevent colds , and colds are the most reasons for the leave, there is no other evidence provided that we should choose Ichthaid as the nutritional supplement of fish oil. For example, people in west Merria can learn from people in East Meria to eat more fishes daily. To sum up, the argument seems to be plausible; in fact, it is neither sound nor persuasive. Not only does it leaves out such key issues, but also cites in analysis the evidenceI can not understand this, which does not lead strong support to what the author claims. To make the argument more convincing, the author would have to take the conditions factors mentioned above into consideration. If the argument includes the given factor guessed??? above, it would have been more thorough and adequate.

逻辑严密,用词方面还要注意.这是在下愚见.有空帮我看看这样写会不会被判CHEATING 或雷同.
