一点看法
Issue 157:There is no such thing as purely objective observation. All observation is subjective; it is always guided by the observer’s expectations or desires.
Is it true that there is no purely objective observation? Is all observation subjective? Is all observation guided by the observer’s expectation or desires as the speaker asserts? Many people may accept these assertions without hesitate. As far as I am concerned, these assertions are misleading for it overemphasizes the role of subjective in the process of observation. And I believe that there dose exit purely and partly objective observation. [用not only ...but also 或both好点]
I concede that many observations are subjective. When an observation is proceeding, the observer will inevitably use his or her experiences and knowledge. For example, watching the same blue sky, children might imagine that there must live some deity and pilots may think that it be a good day to fly. Hearing the same piece of music, musician may tell you how sweetness it is. But as to a painter it may be noisy and boring. In some circumstances, the observer may also be guided by the observer’s expectations or desires with or without intention. Ample examples in history demonstrate that. For example, in Aristotle’s eyes, heavy things fall faster than light ones. 再加一句,因为对同样的事物不同人的观察结果不同,所以这样的观察是主观的
However, there do exist some other observations that are mainly or even purely objective. As mentioned above, we view our world with our experience and knowledge that we got in the past. In the process of observation, if we use the same correct experiences and knowledge, we do reach a same correct conclusion and we call this observation is [去掉]a [an]objective observation. For instance, we can measure the weight of an elephant and an ant with balance and reach a conclusion that an elephant weights over than[去掉] an ant. That is a purely objective observation. We now also know that the sun is bigger than the earth and the earth is moving around the sun. All of this knowledge is the results of objective observation. It is by numerous of this objective observation then we accumulate our knowledge and step by step construct our civilization and make us distinct from the rest of the creatures in the world. And now we still make our every effort to pursue objective observation.[这一段论证有些牵强, 原因在对客观的定义本身不够客观.如果按你的逻辑推下去, 那么第一段中的主观也符合这个定义. 小孩子总认为有神,飞行员老觉得好飞.如果按照字典的定义就可以避免这个问题了]
In sum, although many observations are subjective, there do exit purely objective observation. And it is by ceaselessly pursuing objective observations then we human being develop civilization and keep it go ahead. Overemphasize the role of subjective in the process of observation will inevitably lead to nihilism.
你这篇有个大问题:你只讨论了两种观察的存在性,而对it is always guided by the observer’s expectations or desires.
