The speaker maintains that study of history only has value when it is relevant to daily life, which I could hardly agree with. There are many values of studying history, and admittedly when the studying is relevant to daily life its value will be the greatest, but it is not right, if not wrong, to neglect other values of studying history.

I concede that study of history has more important value when it is relevant to daily life in that some lessons drew from or information deriving from history can be applied to daily life directly. There is an example aptly illustrate the statement. If a wealthy person died many years ago, and his/her legacy did not pass down to his/her offspring, and now his/her offspring want to inherit the wealth, so studying relationship between the wealthy person and one of his/her offspring will play a significant role on how to distribute the wealth. There is also another example demonstrating benefit of studying history relevant to daily life. Studying history of a company will help to enhance understanding of the company because culture and habits of a company mainly depend on its past. If the company has long history, the fact that it still survives now shows that there is some merit in the company, or if the company has cheated its customers in the past, probably honesty of the company can be doubted.

Besides the value mentioned above, there are many other values of studying history and three of them are most obvious. First of all, studying history will help to clarify history itself in the past. One of human’s instincts is a desire to make everything clear, and study of history satisfies human’s desire to be clear of what has happened in the past. Moreover, by studying history, one can have some knowledge of some fundamental principles of society in the past, and then one can apply the principles to solve problems nowadays. For example, studying judgment of a crime in the past, a judger can more suitably sentence a criminal who has committed the same crime as the one studied. In addition, there are many mistakes made by ancestors and by studying history one will be aware of the mistakes made by others and thus prevent himself/herself from making the same mistakes. In some sense, history is a mirror that tells us what is right and what is wrong, what will last forever and what will disappear.

In conclusion, there are many values of studying history. Although value of studying history relevant to daily life is the most significant, it cannot be asserted that only study of history relevant to daily life has value, which may have gone to an extreme.

总的而言，我觉得你的语言还需要加强，不要总是那么几个简单词，简单句在那里。可以考虑多看看资料什么的，多学习学习:)
