In this argument, the arguer concludes that increasingly used robots in the factory will make the work more effectively and profitably than human workers, according to a serial of unwarranted evidence. Careful examination will reveal the hidden flaws as follows in the reasoning.

To begin with, the achievements of robots in mission of outer space exploration cannot mean their success use in factories. The arguer no evidence to demonstrate that use of robots in two fields is really comparable. There are many differences between the kinds of usage, such as work environment, design principle of robots, cost of robots and so on. Generally, outer space exist no oxygen thus people cannot stay there for long time, but robots have no such restriction and suffer less danger in outer space. So it might be required to use robots in outer space research even if designing and using the robots might need high cost. Yet maybe this is not the case, when the robots come to the use in factory. The people might be competent for most of tasks in factories and might cost much less than robots because applying and maintaining robots might demand more fund. Unless the arguer does not provide more information concerning similarity between two kinds of usage, the conclusion is unwarranted

In addition, the assumption that robots never get sick is unwarranted. As the delicate robot is made of the mechanic parts and electronic circuit and is controlled by quite complex computer programs, the hardware and software might both cause incidents and the unexpected mistake, which make the robots stop working. Perhaps the situation, which might make whole assembling line break down or even whole factory stop producing, would be far more serious if a robot is ill than consequence of several human workers’ absenteeism. As a result, not only money has to be spent, but also does the efficiency and profit decrease.

Another unfounded assumption is that robots do not make mistakes and so factories would increase their output. Generally, the robot is designed and operated by the people and it is impossible for robot not to make mistakes. Robot might make mistakes because of the incorrect design and operation caused by careless or unskillful people. And Robot might also be attacked by the computer virus and so bring about the malfunction. In addition, even if the robots do not make mistakes, there is no evidence to demonstrate that factories will increase their output. Common sense tells us that there are many factors relative to output increase, such as work efficiency, morale of workers, skillful machine operations and the like. A possibility is that robot’s work efficiency is low because of improper design and work process. Without ruling out these and other possibilities, the assumption is unwarranted.

Finally, the arguer unfairly assumes that the use of robots would also improve the morale of factory workers. On the one hand, many robots might be competent for the most of jobs that the workers can do before, and many workers might face the danger of losing job because there is a limited position in the factory. On the other, even if the worker cannot become unemployment, workers might not shift to more interesting tasks only according to their own will. And factory mangers have their own plan and arrangement about worker’s employment. In addition, worker’s morale might not be increased because there are many factors to affect the morals of workers such as work salary, work hour, motivation method, work interest and so on. A possibility is that the salary of workers is decreased because of the substantial use of robot. As a result most of workers pay little attention on the work and result in the robot malfunction and low work morale. Therefore, efficiency and profit of factory is gradually down.

To sum up, this argument is unpersuasive as it stands. To better bolster and strengthen the argument, the arguer needs to provide more evidence in order to safely draw the conclusion.
