Some people believe that the Earth is being harmed (damaged) by human activity. Others feel that human activity makes the Earth a better place to live. What is your opinion? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

People always say that the earth is our beloved mother, she provides everybody a shelter to live in. But now, as human beings have stretched their legs into every corner of the world, more often than not, the earth is being harmed. As a matter of fact, in recent years, the earth has been so severely damaged that to some extent, it is no longer suitable for humankind to live.

Firstly, take climate change for an example. Prior to the Industrial Revolution in the 19th century, the temperature of the earth gradually rose at a small degree. But after the mass machinery production was introduced to people's lives, carbon dioxide and other toxic gases, most of which are deemed to be the main cause of global warming, began to emit much more than ever. The ice caps of the north and south poles, which are the most decisive cause that adjusts and balances the global temperature, are melting much faster. Some of the coastal cities, especially those which have low elevations, are facing the harrowing reality to be flooded. And another fact is that the biggest killer of virgin forests----the acid rain, is also the product of modern industrial civilization. Air pollution, water contamination has imperiled the whole human community.

Also, as the population is booming, the consumption of natural resources has increased massively. Even though people keep digging and digging, the scarcity of coal, crude oil has already caused a lot of frictions around the world. The resultant landslides, earthquakes keep attacking the world. Human activity also endangers wild lives. Some rare animals had been killed for their fur, meat or other parts. Thus, the balance of ecology has been utterly disturbed. People, especially these from the developing countries, only focus on expanding economies and do not really care much about the consequences of their activity. Gradually, the beautiful earth we used to see everyday is drifting away and away.

All in all, no matter what we are talking about, maybe air pollution, maybe animal extinction, it is the truth that limitless human activity has damaged the earth vastly, although what we think we do is just try to make the earth a more habitable place to live.

唉……主题啊主题啊……

首先开头段看的我很肉麻……

其次内容的第一段还是没有逻辑性。感觉上是想起什么说什么。本来是在说温度，后来突然变成了酸雨。但是也并没有说酸雨到底是不是由于人类造成的。

内容的第二段感觉上你是想说人口增多能源消耗。但是后来变到生态环境改变。没有主题。另外特别注意，不要用third world这样的字眼，有歧视之嫌。

结尾段根本不知所云。人家是要你阐述一下你认为地球是被人类伤害了，还是人类正在把地球变成一个更适于自己居住的地方。你却说不管我们说什么，地球已经被毁坏了，而且不可恢复了。

你可以考虑先用中文写一下。

另外是我对这个题的看法，我觉得其实这两方面本质上不矛盾。我们也许正在把地球变成一个适于我们居住的地方，同时也在伤害着地球。它本来不应该是一个仅供我们自己居住的地方。
