自从上次谢绝了一位好心教授加学长的offer后，一直没有什么消息，几乎要绝望了。
      昨天把三方协议都写好了，准备寄了去工作。
      终于来了一个！RA 19000/12month,Iowa State University
      谢天谢地！也感谢大家！
      希望能有更多的好消息！

另外，19000在ISU会是一个什么样的生活状况？请教一下

I am pleased to inform you that the Ph.D. admissions committee has met and decided to offer you a half-time graduate research assistantship for the 2006/07 academic year. You will work under the supervision of one or more faculty members to be determined. Your specific duties under the research appointment have not yet been determined. The appointment carries a stipend of $13,212.40 for nine months, payable in biweekly installments. As a half-time GRA you qualify for in-state tuition, which is currently $202.45 per credit hour for the academic year 2005/06. The current nonresident tuition is $442.50 per credit hour, so the value of the tuition assistance in this award is $4320 ($442.50 - $202.50 = $240.00 per credit hour) for the academic year, based on a full time course of study (i.e. 9 graduate credit hours per semester). Hence, the total value of the GRA award is $17,532.40. I should stress that this GRA position is not renewable beyond the first year. You would be expected to pass the TSE during your first year, in order to be eligible for a regular GTA position in your second year.

In-state tuition and campus fees for 2006/07 have not yet been determined. Currently, there is a campus fee of $294.50 per semester for which you would be responsible. Given the required 9 credit hour course load per semester, your responsibility for tuition would be $3644.10 ($202.35 per credit hour X 9 credit hours per semester X 2 semesters) and your campus fees would be $589 ($294.50 X 2). Thus, the net cash amount of your GRA award is $13,212.40 - $3,644.10 - $589.00 = $8979.30 for the 2006/07 academic year. This amount is adequate to meet normal living and other incidental expenses in Lawrence for a twelve month period.

奖学金的明细为：
   - The 1/2 time assistantship will pay you $1,800 per month for the 12-month period beginning Fall semester 2006.  
   - For the period of the assistantship, In-State Tuition and Non-Resident Fees of approximately $9,700 per semester will be waived, and you will only pay the required fees of approximately $550 per semester, plus withholding taxes (as required by law), books, living expenses, etc.

3月3日来了offer，德州的学校，生物医学专业，RA 23000/year，只管第一年。迫不及待接受了，于是乎withdraw了N个面试。也不考虑什么好坏了，虽然还有top20的学校要求面试，可是年纪大了，经不起折腾。
背景是国内水校的医学本科，理学硕士，GPA83/100。GRE（三进宫，老外似乎不看前面的，但前年申请时，UAB明确提出我的GT not competitive，所以重考的）1360＋4.0。T630＋4.5。2篇SCI但low IF。参加过3个projects。PS是老外帮写的，所以没问题。当然那边有肯帮忙的朋友和教授，感觉除了有一定的实力外（我的实力不强，但还是提的上桌的），还是得有关系，否则面试也有可能会被刷了。祝大家出门就被offer砸了。

今天收到Offer，ohio university化工，TA，$19000/y。以前还有两个offer：U south carolina 化工系RA，$20100/y；auburn U的化学系的TA，$18000/y。
本人背景偏弱：天津大学本硕，年龄偏大26岁，电化学方向，GPA本83，硕81，有4篇paper，不过含金量有限，Toefl很惨590+4，GRE670+800+4。工作不到一年，现在在业内一家名企（电池行业世界第7）的研发中心任科技情报项目经理 （说来惭愧，业务能力不敢恭维，是靠耍嘴皮子和酒量混上去的，难以服众）。
