I agree that the only responsibility of corporate executives is to make money for their companies, as long as they stay within the law. In fact, it is through making more money that a corporation benefits the society, yet it’s important that we use laws to regulate their behaviors and make sure that they do not harm the society during the process of gaining profits.

To begin with, the responsibility for executives to make as much money as possible for the company is not only essential to the survive and thrive of the company itself as well as the living and interest of all its workers, but is also of great importance to the prosperity of the whole society. As we know, companies are the basic units of a nation’s economy. The growth of social economy is indispensable for the well development of its companies. What’s more, when a company is making more profits, the taxes paid will no doubly increase. With these taxes, the government can better serve its citizens, such as perfect public medical system, improve public education, and so on. In addition, a company is able to hire more workers when it is making money, and thus alleviate the pressure of employment, which is a major problem in today’s world. From these discussed above, it’s obvious that executives who make money for their companies contribute a lot to both the public and the society through.

However, that executives’ making money for their companies benefits the society does not necessarily mean that they can take any measurements in order to maximize the profits. Complete and just laws and rules are required so as to regulate the actions of the companies. These laws should cover at least three domains. First, they should prevent the executives from doing harm to the interests of their workers. For example, laws should be established illustrating the required working conditions, longest working time per week, lowest salary, and so on. Second, laws should protect consumers’ rights. Things such as over-exaggerated advertisements or harmful products should be banned. Third, society’s interest should also be considered in the law. Among various social problems, the most common concern might be the environmental problem. It should be concluded in the law that no companies are allowed to leave poisonous or pollution-causing wastes in the environment.

Finally, it is always considered that corporate executives also bare the responsibility for the well-being of the population and the society. I concede that it’s good and respectable if companies could do some charities or philanthropic contributions without the sacrifice of its own profits. However, such donation should not be the responsibility for the executives. Corporations contribute to the society mainly through the way of paying taxes and creating job opportunities. And it’s the responsibility of the government and other social organizations to donate for medicine and education, to help the poor and the sick, and so on.

To sum up, in my point of view, paying taxes and support the society and country is the only responsibility which for executives and companies . Moral consideration for the society is good and respectable, yet they are not a must.
