As the decreasing number of wilderness areas containing abundant animals, plants and resources (such as gas, metals etc.) force human beings to focus on the issue that protecting our wilderness areas needs actions urgently, the number in growth of people believe that attracting more tourists to these areas would be the practical and effective way to cope with such a problem. Nevertheless, the speaker holding the point, in my view, fails to mention other factors, by products of this measure above-mentioned, may result in undesirable influence on humans when they are not taken into account unfortunately.

Obviously, the effects brought in by countless tourists annually to certain wilderness area do not seem to be desirable ones. For example, camping in wilderness areas, a kind of tour in some measure, becomes a favorable means to release the urban pressure from life. However, those tourists who always pay most attention to alleviate the depression and enjoy the unique landscape will ignore what their behaviors may lead to potentially, such as water and air pollution. Such case is not rare. Mexico, an American country, is always appealing to tourists from all over the world every year. Recently, “Due to remarkable burdens resulted from hundreds of tourists our tenuous coast suffers from, an amendment that check the devastatingly increasing number of foreign tourists may be considered...,” an official demonstrated. Evidence shows us that a measure to weigh how much these areas can burden is needed to protect the environment.

Also, the response of local people and government to the prosperous tourism may be a great threat to local wilderness areas. In other words, local people could sacrifice the environment to make fortunes. For instance, hotels, which are essential to areas having prosperous tourism, are built without further consideration. Meanwhile, these architectures could bring many troubles that weigh much more that than benefits we can gain in the long-run. What's worse, the local government, due to financial resources support from private companies, may enact relevant regulations and laws to cater these so-called needs of local economic development, being blind to advent of damages resulted from such actions. Maybe, on day those who cannot see anything but money will regret what they have done until they find nobody fits to live in their hometown.

To be sure, advantages of tourism in wilderness areas are undeniable, such as its stimulation to local economy which plays a great role in stabilizing the society. All we need is to exploit the wilderness areas in such a degree that the environment can appease a host of effects by itself.

In sum, tourism should not be prohibited, but be reasonable. Through environmentally sensitive projects, tourists will be educated to know how to exploit our wilderness areas regularly and effectively. In other words, human development needs the harmonious balance between people and nature, but not either dorminated authority to the other.
