"Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student."
Education has the responsibility for exploring the students’ talents and their interests, but it does not mean that education should meet every student's individual needs and interests. Because we should take into account the money and the resources which we must take good use.
On the one hand, as for an eligible teacher, one must try one's best to answer the students' questions according to their needs or interests, which is an important process to develop the student's talent on one field. Moreover, the educators should respect the student's interest and encourage them to move on by his or her great efforts. There is a typical example to support my point of view. Faraday, a great physical scientist, showed a terrible interest in electricity and magnetism, who had been educated by his teacher David. David gave Faraday the right direct, plus his own gift in this field, and Faraday discovered the electrical-magnetic effect, a famous discovery in the physics. That is, the good teacher's lead and the student's interest may create a miracle.
On the other hand, if the education's purpose only to meet the individual needs and interests of each student, what a horrible phase we could ever meet! The government must budget how much money on education and provide how many teachers to meet every student's needs and interests. That would be a great waste and it is totally not necessary. The education's real purpose is to teach the students how to think, how to study, how to criticize, how to create, and how to communicate. With these basic skills, one can think for oneself, be self-study, pick the useful information through lots of ones and criticize them with one's justicial attitudes, and learn to corporate with the partners. I believe even if one did not meet one's needs and interests in the school, one also can achieve great success through one's efforts in the society. There is an example following.
Watt, the inventor of steam engine which directly leaded to the industrialization, had a huge accomplishment without meeting his interests in the school; otherwise, he even did not go to the school. When he was young, he saw the steam blow the spot up when water was boiling, which was a common thing attracting Watt very much. Through the period as an apprentice, he accumulated so much experience. And when the time is right, he picked up his interest again, using the experience, finally he invented the steam engine.
In addition, there are a lot of instances about the great scientists develop their interests out of school. Edison, the great inventor in the world, invented more than one thousand things. That was amazing! How can a person invent so many things in his short life? Of course, it must be attributed to the knowledge he learned in the school, the experience in the society and his interests.
Above all, in my point of view, education should provide the students the way to think, to study, to criticize, and teach the students the basic knowledge. With these, students can achieve their interests through their endless efforts.
