position: basicly agree
Only through mistakes can there be discovery or progress.
Most discoveris and progress in the history, are through mistakes, and one often gets through mistakes then to be successful. I believe mistakes are often inextricable. As a result, I basically agree with the speaker. However, in the meanwhile, I do not think discovery or progress are only through mistakes(I do not think people get every discovery or progress through mistakes).
First of all, under the conditions surrounding us (under certain conditions) and with limited knowledge, mistakes are often unavoidable. When we try to do something at the first time, we have no experience and enough knowledge to make sure our efforts absolutely right. Just like playing the maze, we are often not fortunate enough to get the correct routine to the destination. But after trying many times, then we are probably find the exit. Also in astronomy, before the right theory of the structure of space, there are many mistake notions (mistakes) which are caused by highly constraint on ethics, like the geocentric theory supported by Ptolemaic and Aristotle, then the Copernicus' heliocentric theory, ect. So in many times, making mistakes are often necessary to achieve success.(此处,这个天文学的例子说的不太顺, 有哪个牛人能用英语叙述得更好些吗?
Additionally, we can learn much from the mistakes and get some experience, which will be very helpful to make more discovery or progress. The failure of perpetual motion machine, made by Chales Redheffle, attracted public's attention, and called (attract) many scientists' interests to work on it in (at) that time. Although it (指代不清) failed, the failure greatly inspired James Prescott Joule and then the great law of conservation of energy was finally put out. Thomas Edison had tried and failed (失败?made mistakes) for nearly two thousand times. And with the rich experience from so many failures, he finally invent the electric light. It is also true in business. Most of the successful business men have gone through the experience of oscillation between being poor and being rich. The book, <<Rich dad, poor dad>>, is very popular nowadays. Robert through his own experience, has convinced us that business man always make mistakes for many times, but after learning from the failure, they will become more tactful(谁知道“老练的”sophisticated拼写象这个错词似的正确的词 怎么写啊?(skilled, sophisticated)) and successful in their business. To include, mistakes are very necessary when we are trying to make discoveries and progress.
However, although dealing with mistakes rightfully is helpful to success, we should try our best to avoid mistakes happen and there are some facts of (删facts of) success without any mistakes. From mistakes, we get experience and more knowledge, but when we have got these enough to do something, we should make sure that we succeed at the first time The success of Chinese manned spacecraft traveling space for the first time can best illustrate that we can make progress without any mistakes. While before the travel, chinese scientists have tried their best to consider comprehensively in everything.
In conclusion, in most conditions, mistakes are unavoidable when we want to make progress or discoveries, for restriction from the condition and limited knowledge. But we should learn from mistakes, to avoid more mistakes and try to succeed without any mistakes. |
