With the development of the society, the methods of getting information have become various. Movies, televisions and other types of media such as internet, newspaper and so on have played an important role in our daily life increasingly. All of there are called mass media which are used to provide information, experiences, entertainment.

In one hand, mass media influence the public by changing their views of the world, the value and the life. Some news programs broadcast events happened in the country or abroad. According to this way, people have not only known the fact, but they have also thought about things in their own ways. Besides, some programs also invite some celebrities or even common people to make comments on certain topic. After compared with these opinions, people either accept others’ points or consist their original ideas or agree with them partially. The process of contractions and comparisons is just the influence that mass media impact on us.

In another aspect, mass media also exert influence on what we do directly. Nowadays, peoples’ tendency of purchase is almost controlled by advertisements shown on televisions. They tell us what is good, and then we may chose this product. Also, the behaviors of stars will influence us a lot, especially those teenagers. “The super girls” is a good example. Many young girls now grow short-hair like their idols regardless of their gender; they wear clothes which have the same style as that of stars no matter it is suitable or not. The phenomenon sociologists is called “stars’ effectiveness”.

In brief, movies or televisions and other mass media, by offering various kinds of information, have a great influence on us. We have to admit that they have an impact on our behaviors unconsciously.
