Are scandals useful on the basis that they focus our attention on problems in ways that no speaker or reformer (ever could)? I concede that scandals disclose the problems and genuine aspects of the society to public; however, beyond this concession, in my view scandals do more harm than benefit to the society and the celebrities they target.
Admittedly, scandals expose problems genuine but underhanded of the society or the celebrities for us to understand them deeply. In today’s media age, after wild coverage of the scandals and overwhelming comments about them, almost none (of the) scandals can be masked for public attention. A striking example, the notorious Watergate scandal by (这个介词感觉用的不好,of可以吧?) the former president of America Nixon, leads to the resignation of the president after exposure to public by media. Hence, with the help of media, scandals do serve to disclose the crucial problems of the society or celebrities and focus our attention on (to) them to solve some social problems. However, for the reason that media is always money-oriented, in order to call well sell they will exaggerate the problems themselves to call more attention, as a result it will bring negative consequences to the society as well as the celebrities who are targeted.
On the one hand, scandals distract us from focusing on the present severe social problems. To meet the lower taste of the public, media sometimes exaggerates the severity of the problems themselves. After all, we human people have infinite curiosity of the scandals to get some excitement, which has been discovered by the media. After exposing the problems, media will be tempting to develop more meaningless series about this issue, or even penetrate into the private life of the characters in this problems, so as to call public attention. One needs look no further than newspapers’ front-page news, whether in politics, academia or other areas, from which we can see where public people focus on. As a result, it must distract the attention on the present or lasting social problems such as the healthy problems, the education problems, the economic developing problems( 感觉用such as the problem of health, education, economy 比较好) and so forth. In this way, scandals do harm more than contributions to the society’s destiny.
On the other hand, undue detrimental comments on public figures will jeopardize their normal work as well as their celebrities. As a saying goes “anyone cannot be perfect, so do famous people”, media’s sparking their somewhat not-to-mention mistakes and poking into their private life will make their celebrities untarnished and thus influence their significant work.
In sum, scandals do serve to find out the social and individual problems insofar as they focus people’s attention on the truth of any social issue, as the speaker asserts; however, more consideration shows that undue focus on the comments about the problems the media provides will distract us from the present severe social problems and the well-round judge of the celebrities.
很多华丽的词我都不认识诶, 只能靠金山词霸了. 所以我也不能确定这些用词是否得当.不过有些表述读起来还是有些别扭.词汇量蛮大的,加油! |
