The Chinese River Dolphin (illustrated) is declared functionally extinct, the first extinction of a large mammal in recent decades.

Timeline of extinction

1979: The People's Republic of China declares Chinese River Dolphin endangered
1983: National law declaring hunting the Chinese River Dolphin illegal
1984: Plight of the baiji drew headlines in China[4]
1986: Population estimated to be 300
1989: Gezhouba Dam complete
1990: Population estimated to be 200
1994: Construction began of Three Gorges Dam
1997: Population estimated to be less than 50 (23 found in survey)
1998: 7 found in survey
2003: Three Gorges Dam began filling reservoir
2004: Last known sighting, a stranded dead
2006: 0 found in survey, declared "with all probability extinct"

长江污染太严重了，执法力度也不够
当官的只管吃喝，碰到问题就互相推诿

常函数和指数函数e的x次方走在街上，远远看到微分算子，
常函数吓得慌忙躲藏，说：“被它微分一下，我就什么都没有啦！”
指数函数不慌不忙道：“它可不能把我怎么样，我是e的x次方！”
指数函数与微分算子相遇。
指数函数自我介绍道：“你好，我是e的x次方。”
微分算子道：“你好，我是‘d/dy！’

1.种群数量太少，难以维系正常的繁殖。
2.栖息地难以隔离。相比之下，保护大熊猫，朱鹮只需要划出专门的保护区。在长江上，只要有排放，有渡船行驶，就一定会影响到白鳍豚的生活
3.白鳍豚是大型食肉动物，长江由于过去的污染，已经造成生态问题，难以供应给白鳍豚足够的食物。而且大型食肉动物的繁殖力较差。
