165 Scandals—whether in politics, academia, or other areas—can be useful. They focus our attention on problems in ways that no speaker or reformer ever could.

Scandals---a circumstance or action that offends propriety or established moral conceptions or disgraces those associated with it

Outline: With big agree, and small disagree

View one---Scandals do have the ability in focusing our attention. Old saying “好事不出门,坏事传千里”,The main reason why Scandals could attract populace attribute to human nature. Compared with speaker or reformer’s voided speech, Scandals often easily attempt to one’s interest in viewing on it.

View two---by sandals, we can see some problems, and then could solve them. Example: Enron Corp corruption, 运动员服用兴奋剂,一旦可以这些人严厉的惩罚, 都给后人敲响警钟,从而约束社会不良风气的形成。从这方面讲 Sandals is also useful.

View three--- It will not be good if we focus too much attention on Scandals, thus some pressing society problems might be neglect. Zipper Gate about Clinton's liaisons with Lewinsky, 但是最终由于人们太过于关注与这类丑闻,使得人们把问题看作是个笑柄,或是可消遣的东西,而不是真正意思上的解决那些急待解决的问题。

According to the statement, scandals is useful for it can sometimes serve to call out our attention to some society problems that we could otherwise neglect. Although some kinds of scandals might be over-cared that lead to an opposite side effect to human society, its invincible ability that let us quickly know the problems occurred at hands widespread can not be ignored. So I fundamentally agree with claim of the speaker in 3 respects as below

Firstly, as there is an old saying ---“Never be afraid of the scandals can not spread out”. Admittedly, the main reason why scandals could attract populace attribute to human nature. People were born with great curiosity, almost everyone living in the world like to find out other’s secrets or individual affairs. Thus, scandals do fitly satisfy with them. Compared with speakers or reformer’s voided, unfeelingly, or even redundant speech, what scandals provides people are lively, up to date, tellingly news that could easily attempt one’s interest in viewing on them. Therefore, in this respect, scandals are useful and have the advantage in spreading out issues.

Secondly, by knowing the scandals, those who offend established mortal conception would be given strictly punishment can also alarm society and then result to a benign society system. For example, the financial scandals about Enron Corp corruption and its breakup in end admonish other potential problematic company to strengthen its regulation on some key man position in sales, logistic, and especially financial Dept. View on sports activity, news show that some sport man betrayed the spirit of fairness, took forbidden exhilarant before game, although some of them get the price in the game, once they were detected by using those kinds of medicament they will be deprived of all the honor and finally receive series punishment like prohibiting in taking part in any games in a long term. From above, no public speaker or reformer could have called the nation's attention to the problem of some people‘s misconduct unless the scandal had surfaced. What’s more important is that from just handling the scandals, society would be warned not to do such immoral things which would benefit the society system. That’s the second reason why I concede scandals are useful.

At last, despite the advantage that scandals provide us, the shortcoming can even not be neglect. Scandals can sometimes serve chiefly to distract us from more pressing community or societal problems. It will never be advocated to putting too much attention on scandals to ignore the immediate problems in hand. For example, the scandals about the former president Bill Clinton‘s liaisons with Lewinsky. As a matter of fact, Since the Starr’s report is too detailed and contains sexually explicit language. Young people like adolescent might only care in the process of scandals but not the result the scandals want to show us. On the other hand, there are still numerous pressing issues need us paying more attention to tackle with but not waste time on other people’s personal scandals.

In sum, I basically agree with the author’s claim about scandals. Scandals contain the ability in focusing our attention. It will also be useful to alarm populace when giving such people who involved in scandals a strict punishment. On the other hand, I recommend that it is not clever to pay too much attention on some kinds of scandals when there are immediate problems in hand.
