Issue50 "In order to improve the quality of instruction at the college and university level, all faculty should be required to spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach."

3、当然这样的建议并不意味着相关领域都要很精通，那是不现实的，但要对与自己相联系的学科一定要有所了解。
I am totally agree that working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach will improve the quality of instruction from general subjects to some special frontier subjects. It is a requirement of both the development of technology and science.

Traditional independent subject, which is separated thoroughly from others, usually only acquire the instructors to devote most of time to the subject, so that they can easily attain high level. It is a convention since Aristotle period, who had the integrity of the world into separate subjects like physics, philosophy, mathematics by some features to help people study each realm easily. Gradually, we forget all the subjects stem from the same origin--nature. It is hard for us to discover the beauty between numbers, the geometry in the painting and dancing of the animal, by the restrains made by ourselves. Did the instructors spend a little time and related courses, our view about the world will be different without doubt. We will see a world, in which everything is related to each other, depending on each other at least affecting each other, and in such case, we can use our knowledge more effectively.

Further more, the studying related courses is more important to the newly born frontier science. Taking neuropsychology as an example, it dose not only need knowledge about nervous system but also psychology, even some knowledge about physiology. None of them insufficient will lead to the low level of teaching. How can you image a situation that several instructors stand on the same podium to lecture a new subject. Obviously, studying broadly is basic requirement to the instructors in this field. In addition, if an old course need a reform, the easiest way is to study related courses and try to connect them together. So many research results have been discovered by this means.

Even though I assert that it is a necessity for the instructors to spend time on related courses, I do not mean that we have to devote many time to it. The course we teach is the root of the teaching, the related is the decorations. Were an instructor not in good command of the knowledge in the field, it is unbelievable for him to reach a high level in lecturing related courses. Therefore, the premise of studying related courses to promote the teaching level is a good master of the main course. In my view, studying some related courses is indispensable for a good lecturer, not needing very deep understanding, which is unrealistic, but at least some acquaintance.

In conclusion, I agree that the faculty need to a requirement to spend time to study related courses, which is really helpful for them to promote the levels, however， the extent and diversity still need careful concern.

1、我们生活在一个充满科学技术的时代，缺乏science的基本知识无法生存。有必要让每一个人学习一些科学知识。
2、但是科学技术的程度没必要太高。既浪费时间又扼杀学生的活力。
3、对于science的学习不可以用强迫式的学习，应该以激发兴趣为主。

谢谢candy的建议,本人的确没有研究题目的意思就很匆忙的开始写了,
审题的确是很重要的一个过程,原来对issue的理解太肤浅了,想当然就开始写了.
关于边缘学科是有的,我查出来的,
是一个新词,关于这个词是否可用还可以再探讨~!
