The following appeared in a memo to the human resources manager at Baobob Inc., a large architectural firm.
"Several well-known, retired architects were interviewed in Architecture Today about changes in the field. Only one had earned a college degree in architecture. All others had come into the field at an early age by serving apprenticeships that required them to work under the direct supervision of an experienced architect. Several of the colleges that we recruit from report that many promising architecture students leave school early in their undergraduate career. Therefore, because finding talented architecture graduates is becoming more difficult, Baobob Inc. should start an aggressive apprenticeship program and hire students who express an interest in architecture directly out of high school rather than wait for them to get out of college."
In this argument, the arguer claims that Baobob Inc. should start an aggressive apprenticeship program and hire high school students who have interesting in architecture. To support this conclusion, the arguer points out that one of the retired architects who were interviewed in Architecture Today had a college degree while others were apprentice in early age; in the other hand, because a report say that many promising architecture students leave school early, finding talented architecture graduates may difficult. I think Baobob Inc. doesn’t clarify the situation and make the decision above is so hasty.
First of all, there is little evidence to say that being apprentice young is better than going to the collage to be an architect in architecture. In these retired architects’ period, may be forty years ago, many young people may not have the chance to enter into the collage because of poor, or the society may not possible to give all people the opportunity of education, and have the poor the social safeguard, so many young people were been apprentices and just only few people can go to the collage. May be, at that time, graduating from high school is popular and the collage degree is the same level as the master’s degree today. Also there is no fact to reflect that people who enter into the collage to major in architecture not as good as the people being apprentice young at that time, they just don’t appear in this interface. So there we cannot say that being a apprentice when young is better than going to the collage in theirs times. In the other hand, time goes on, everything changes. Even if the fact is right to the retired architects’ times, but technology is developing, education is developing, and the competition is furious today, everything goes on, yesterday conditions may not fit to today. So we also cannot to get the conclusion that people being apprentice young can work better than whom going to the collage in the architecture today.
In addition, the arguer says that because of the report, finding talented architecture graduates will be difficult, that’s the wrong causality. First, what’s this report about, who make it, how should we trust the results, and does it contain all the universities or just some of them. Without this, we should be suspicion of the conclusion that many promising architecture students leave school early, and “many” may be a big number but just little portion of all. Also, how about the graduate students, may be they are more excellent than the leaving ones, and may be a big part of students graduate from collage then find jobs. The evidence doesn’t tell anything about that, so the Baobob Inc. has no reason to worry about to find talent graduates.
   As it stands, the argument is not well reasoned. Yesterday’s conclusion is just stand for yesterday even it right or not, and if the arguer want to attain the conclusion he suggested, he must find more facts about today and the graduate students’ employment and their capabilities.


130"How children are socialized today determines the destiny of society. Unfortunately, we have not yet learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society."


Children are the future. When we become old, children will be the main members to build our society, so how to educate our children is a very important social issue. Some people may think that we should teach our children everything and design a road for them, then, when they grow up, they will help bring about a better society. But I have different opinion that we should teach children our experiences and knowledge, and the left is their role.
In the first place, children should learn how to survive by themselves in society. There is no doubt about that people make society, and we live there and work there, so the society is good or bad contributed by all the people. Children, when they are young are brought-up by their parents, but when they grow up, the first thing they should do is learn to stand in the society by themselves, then it is possible to talk about developing the society.
In the second place, we can’t tell what will our future exactly be. Our society is developing fast, also the science, the arts and the technology, so that the future is unknown and the society cannot be design exactly. In the other hand, we cannot tell what is a better society and how to build it, every people have different ideas, also different generation in different circumstance have different opinions. Furthermore, we teach them a better society we think today, that may not fit to the future. So the best thing we should do is tell them about our knowledge and experiences can be used in the future, and our success and defeat, adding to their ideas and talent, to create their own society that they think is better.  
In addition, today is the basic of future. The development of society, as building a high building, brick by brick, today’s society is the basic of future. So why not tell the skills and knowledge we have today, that is the basic of tomorrow’s developing.
In conclusion, we should not be regret that have no way to educate them how to build a better society, just educate them knowledge and skills we know to survive in the society, and a better society is their duty to think and to do.
