According to the statement, some consider that our society has neglected the intellect, that is, on reasoning and other cognitive skills which are distinguished with the power of feel and will. However, as far as I concerned, the statement is arbitrary and unilateral.
First of all, in education, much emphasis has been laid in the study and test. For instance, nowadays, in high school in china, the majority of required courses have something connective with reasoning and some cognitive skills, such as mathematic, physics and chemistry. In a condition, when students want to go to higher schools to get further education, much of them will receive tests and examinations about intellect. For a promising future, many students do plenty of exercises on the intellect to face the competence among thousands of students who are like their own, in order to get over others to win the opportunity of college educations.
Secondly, in industry, when it comes to judge a personal ability, intellect is always the preferred method. And an IQ test is always coming along as one company employ people in a interview. If one gets an excellent mark, he or she will be outstanding, and therefore gives the employer a good expression. So he or she is much likely to have the job offer. Under this situation, people would live to put a lot of their time to enforce the ability on this aspect.
In sum, our society has paid immense attention to intellect, but unfortunately, less to emotion which is of great importance as well. As an old saying goes, “where there is a will, there is a way.” A will is an emotional power manifested as choosing, desiring, wishing and intending. A excellent person can not success without a good will, just like soul in human beings while the intellect is the body, a will can guide us along the way we search to our aim. And also, we must learn how to control our behavior and action. In the new century, with the breakthrough of the internet, we have achieve a lot and lots of genius who admittly make full use of intellect burst out. Meanwhile, computer visas occur and spoil our computer, endanger security of our information. And new type of crimes confuses our life. For example, once, a Russian computer specialist drew a lot money form e-bank, which damages the interest of the bank-customs. And it is the genius who creates the disaster. So an intellect educated man without emotion can be a terrific gun without control, bring the world calamity.     
In a conclusion, intellect and non-intellect are of an equal importance, just like skeleton and flesh of people, which also can not be separated. Intellect makes man wisdom; non-intellect, an artist of life; and both, a whole. And the main point is to make them strike the balance and keep it with the same emphasis on each other.
