I strongly agree with the assertion that the study of an academic field will change our way of perceiving the world. Studying is the process of acquiring knowledge as well as reasoning and researching new problems, so it will certainly deep our understanding of the field to be studied. At the same time, it can also form us a scientific way of thinking, which enables us to explore other various academic disciplines of the world and even helps us to discover and solve problems in a new altitude.
Fundamentally, the study of an academic field would significantly advance our knowledge of that discipline, which it self is a part of the world. Hardly can we see any scientist or engineer who can receive high respect for his or her innocence of a particular field, the same scenario is also true in areas such as art and social science. And quite on the contrary, almost all of the world’s famous scientists are highly praised for his or her particular insight into a certain field or phenomenon, say Albert Einstein for his perception of the relation between time and matter, Isaac Newton for his idea of about motion and gravity, and John Nash for his theory of equilibrium. On the way of discovering these relations and theories, those scientists accumulated innumerable knowledge and background information, therefore enable them to perceive the particular part of world in a deepest ever view.
Besides accumulating knowledge, the study process also helps people to construct a reasonable way of thinking, which can promote people's understanding of other fields in a more efficient way. After all, the fundamental aspects of science and technology are the same, that is they are all based on serious logical reasoning and mathematical provement, and consolidated by actual proofs. Therefore, once people are already well trained by studying a particular academic field, these spirituals acquired can easily be transformed to explore other fields. An apt illustration of this point involves the famous painter, Da Vinci. Besides painting, Da Vinci was also adept at mathematics, architecture and mechanics. It is his particular talent in mathematics which promoted him to be an expert also in other academic fields, and the experience learned from other fields interact to further make him prominent in all these fields. Since in his age, the explored science was not so sophisticated as today’s, it saved his time to learn a particular new field, thus makes the way of his reasoning a more dominated factor in exploring the new world.
Through the way we studying a particular academic field, the world viewed by us can be enlarged, thereby enables as to see the world in a higher ever altitude. Various kinds of study provide us a seamless web of knowledge, where no area of knowledge can achieve significant advance without expertise from other fields. So, when we study a certain field, we also pay attention to the expertise and knowledge related to this field, and since the various fields are ultimately linked together, the study process actually helps us to enlarge our perception and deepen the understanding of the world. For example, by studying various kinds of knowledge including mathematics, literature, history and business, Marx realized the hidden conflict of contemporary capitalism society, and formed his theory of the development of society, which has significantly influenced the world.
To sum up, study of an academic field can significantly deepen people's perception to that particular field. What is more, it formulates people the way they observe and reason, which can further deepen their perception of other fields and even help people enlarge their view and understanding of the world. Based on these conclusions, I surly support the speaker's claim.
