1. 实用性很重要，但是没有理想主义的帮助，仅追求实用性很难有大作为
2. 理想主义给予实用性指导方向和创新的动力
3. 许多看起来很实用的行为也是有理想主义的成分参与的
4. 但是理想主义也不能完全脱离现实

TOPIC: ISSUE99 - "In any realm of life-whether academic, social, business, or political-the only way to succeed is to take a practical, rather than an idealistic, point of view. Pragmatic behavior guarantees survival, whereas idealistic views tend to be superceded by simpler, more immediate options."

The speaker asserts that practicality is the only way to success in any realm of life. While I concede that practicality takes an important status in many aspects, the statement is so extreme that it neglects the importance of idealistic in many cases.

Practicality is a good way to success as it is based on the reality and easy to be attained. There are many instences such as creating a technique will be used widely and make productions benefical to people' s daily lives. If the way of killing bacteria is not related to our healthy, we would not rever the scientist as much.

However, without the idealistic part, practicality will not change the world so much as it  dose now. Imagining that if no body dare to take vertune to revolt the things already exist, there will be less development. Without revolution there is no new society system as without erasing the old there is no new things.  

Idealistic view gives people the direction and even the solution of the problems. Although it may be difficult to come true at once, the evaluation will be lasting. Take the fictions of Virne as an instance. Nobody would expert people will go to the moon one day when the fiction published. However, many years later, human had arrived  at the moon just using the similar way as Virne said. And when nowadays the computer programmes are used in almost every aspect of our lives,  nobody will think it is idealistic as people did while vonNeumann wrote first programme which no one else can understand. Without the help of idealistic views, there will be much less originality.

Many actions looks like pratical are directed by idealistic views. Concidering Bill Gates, who dropped out the life in the school and doing business instead, the more practical way for him was graduating for the university and finding a job, which contained less possibility to fail. The action to take venture is always promoting by ideal, which is the milestone of many successful person's career.

However, when the ideas are detached from the reality, it is hard to bring them into truth.  For example, the Eutopia which is familiar to us, looks like a paradise but only a imagination. Since it is too far from our society that it is nearly impossible to become a real system of society. A idealistic view must be related to the reality and practical actions before it come true. If there were no computers by now, we couldn't expect there would be programmes.

Summarily, the reality requires the people to take practical actions, while the creations need idealistic views to promote. The best way to success is combining these two together. Prossessing a ideal before taking practical actions based on reality will lead to success and rapid development of society and many sphere of our lives.
