TOPIC: ISSUE54 - "History teaches us only one thing: knowing about the past cannot help people to make important decisions today."

In this era of rapid development of technology and science, which has greatly changed our world, a great number of people would doubt whether our history experience is still available today or not. In my opinion, although much history experience does not work today, most of that still play a significant role in guidance.
Owing to the great change in the world, it is impolitic to make whatever decision according to the history experience. And I follow the reasoning that we all share a belief that change is the mere thing that never changes. The industrial revolution and the development of telecommunication and information have conspicuously enhanced our ability to survive and our mobility. For example, in the past, there is no substitute for envelope when one hopes to communicate with another person far away; however, nowadays, it is cheaper and more convenient than posting a mail to make a call or to chat on the internet, where we can even make new friends whom you have never met before. In this situation, following the history experience to post mails not only costs much more money, but also limits our ability to extend our horizon of our mind. Such example is used to point out that history sometimes is unavailable, even misleading, in our daily life.
While history appears to be dispensable, we should not lose sight of the true fact that history plays an important role as an excellent guider in many aspects. For example, in astronomy field, it is Kepler who first calculated out the orbit of planets and when he published his theory, he was even younger than the average of his contemporary astrophysicist. The chief reason is because he is good at learning from history. In astronomy, what cost most time is observance, but Kepler learnt from 40 years observance of Tycho, who is an early astrophysicist, and thus cut corners to the new theory. What's more, our modern science is based on the logic founded by Aristotle, who was a famous philosophy in Greece more than 2000 years ago. It is hard to image a world without logic. If so, we cannot even substantiate that I am myself. In short, nothing can replace history in many aspects for its purpose to provide knowledge and enlighten our wisdom.
Finally, we learn from history in order to avoid mistakes because ignoring history would lead to mistakes, at the even worse, and most of these mistakes are viewed as disasters. Take a King in Chinese history as an example. There lived a King called Zhou who was totally a despot and he exploited his multitude crudely and wasting meat and wine by putting them in a river, which excessive deed enraged his multitude and overthrow his governance. Several hundred years before Zhou, there was another despot call Jie. If Zhou could learn from history, he could avoid the bad aftermath after all.
