      Both the practical and idealistic point of view is existed in the daily life. Of course, people sometimes need some idealistic views. But as the speaker said, pragmatic behavior guarantees survival. Without pragmatic behavior, men can’t gain anything.
      First it comes to the area of academics, the student who wants to do a great job in his study can’t just stay in the room, imagine his smart and diligence. A good student must concentrate on study everyday. They must have a sense of responsibility. For instance, they should finish their task on time, still go to class to have lesson when others in the dormitory all go out for fun, and understand the thesis thoroughly not just satisfying that he can do the homework. The success of the academic consists of all these small but practical things. When we see back in the history, all great scientists all use their smart and diligence in everyday’s hardworking. No one can lie in the bed, just think about something new and then achieve a great success.
      It can be seen more obviously in the business that pragmatic behavior is crucial for the success. When a man starts the business, maybe he has a good and idealistic view that his company will be the No.1 in the field after ten years. This kind of idealistic view can give people passion and power to focus on the business. But only this is far from success. A successful company needs not only dream but also strict decipline. In the KFC, producing a simple piece of fried chicken needs 23 steps. And all these steps are written clearly in the handbook. That is the reason why KFC can be successful in so many countries. All these products are the same as they are in the USA. Being a chief executive, the things really are needed to do for him is to pay attention to the practical things such as deadlines for production, sales quotas, profit margin. Through these pragmatic behaviors he can get complex data and analysis it to make the company forward in a right direction.  Do you ever see a business man who is successful because he has a big dream? The answer is simple.
     At last, it seems different in the politics. When a candidate wins in a vote we often think that it is because of his attracting policy and self-fascination. A general policy is decisive. But we ignore an important thing. How the attracting policy and self-fascination comes from? Not all the candidates can have self-fascination naturally. When the candidate is going to have a speech to the supporters in the crowd street or on TV, he must have practiced for hundreds of times. Every detail of the speech likes dressing, the tone during speech and even when to smile is prepared for a long time. We can say that the speech can attract so many audiences because of its perfect details. It is same as a successful policy. Behind a successful policy the candidate and his group must have done countless investigation about people’s will and analysis about opponent’s plan. In general, the success in politic needs not only some attracting banner, but also doing every detail well.
     In sum, although the statement doesn’t notice that idealistic view also plays an important role sometimes. It points out what really leads people to the direction of success is pragmatic behavior.
