Secondly, the arguer fails to point out how the survey was conducted. If the survey was conducted in the control domestic cheese producers by providing more advertizing patronage to Cheeses of the World magazine, and the questions were leading, the subjects might echo with expected answers. In short, any of these scenarios, if true, would serve to undermine the reliability of the survey and thus the conclusion.

Furthermore, even if there is an increasing preference for domestic cheeses, it does not follow that few people purchase cheese from other countries. Perhaps there are only five kinds of domestic cheese in all and they, as it happens, are best-selling, the rest kinds of cheese are totally from other countries, and at the even worse, the amount of cheese from other countries might be conspicuously greater than that of domestic cheese. If so, discontinuing stocking varieties of imported cheese would result in a slump in profit. Lacking such evidence, the conclusion is highly dubious.

Thirdly, to concentrate primarily on domestic cheeses will not necessarily help the stores earn a profit. As common sense and experience tells us that earning a profit is a function of demand and supply. However, the arguer fails to provide any information concerning demand and supply. It is equally possible that the present storage of domestic has met the demand of market and further storage will cause redundancy of cheese and decrease in price. If so, profit will dwindle rather than increase as the president expects. In addition, the arguer offers no information about the cost involved in storage. If, for instance, the cost of storage is extremely low, while profit that is earned from imported cheese is highly exciting, it is wise to continuing stocking imported cheese because of the basic knowledge about the relationship between revenue and expense in business. In short, without information about demand and supply, without weighing revenue against expense, the arguer's conclusion is premature at best.

To sum up, the conclusion lacks credibility because the evidence cited here lends no strong support to what the arguer maintains. To strengthen this argument, the arguer should provide more evidence regarding the sales of imported cheese. To better evaluate this argument, we need more information concerning the expense and revenue of selling varieties of cheese in the US.
