With the soaring development of society, people are necessarily required to emphasize communication and improve efficiency in the competitive and complex society. While the emergence of electronic communication has met the intensive need of high speed in the 21st century, people begin to doubt that it seems to prevent meaningful and thoughtful communication. In my opinion, the electronic communication not only brings us the higher efficiency but also creates more opportunity to drive significant and reflective communication if we carry it out appropriately and justifiably.

People usually emphasize delivering and receiving information quickly by using electronic communication media, which tend to ignore the quality of communication and lead to meaningless and less thoughtful effect. Much information delivered to someone without certain objective or topic usually seems to be useless and unrelated to him or her life. For example, many people are suffering the trouble everyday to spend much time in dealing with e-mail messages, most of which are rubbish emails and insignificant to their lives. Such cases are ubiquitous around our lives, the over-using telephone is a good example. When we are walking around the roads or working in the offices, it is easy to find that so many people are wasting time on talking idly and nattering by telephone! In that moment, no one can appreciate and believe the possibility to have an important and through communication with others by the modern electronic media.

As a matter of fact, the adverse effect of electronic communication does not overshadow its real and obvious advantage to create more opportunity for us to have meaningful and thoughtful communication. Nowadays, for most institutions from a government to a small company, using television, radio or e-mail to deliver important information is very common and indispensible. As we all know, the once-a-week public speech of Bush, the current America president, informs the citizens of the government policies and current situation of development. In personal life, a piece of e-mail for apologize after dispute between two lovers provides an opportunity to introspect self fault and be considerate of each other; The crime reports in television help audience to understand laws and incite medication in civil rights and obligation. In a word, without the help of high-speed electronic communication, our life would be obsolete with less meaning and thoughtfulness than we have today.

The advantages and disadvantage of electronic communication media through comparison tell us the fact that our correct attitude toward it benefits us getting the meaningful communication. That is to say the so-called adverse effect of electronic communication comes from the our incorrect attitude to how to use the current communication method. First, abusing e-mails aiming to deliver commercial ads without permit means disturbing others and wasting their time; Second, putting too much emphasis on such electronic medias like e-mails prevents people to communicate meaningfully esp. when certain situation requires face-to-face explanation. Third, using such high-speed communication methods aims to facilitate understanding with each other thoughtfully rather than create excuse to ignore communicating directly. All these analysis tell us that the true benefit of high-speed electronic communication lies in our attitude.

In conclusion, as soon as we consider the electronic communication correctly and make best advantage of it, we can not only deliver and receive information efficiently but also reach the meaningful and thoughtful communication.
