We are also pleased to offer you a half-time \emph{Teaching Assistantship,}
a Summer Research Fellowship, and a \emph{First Year Scholarship}.
The assistantship is renewable (normally for a total of five years of
support) and provides full tuition, a stipend, subsidized health
insurance, and other benefits.  The Summer Research Fellowship provides
research support for your first three summers in the program.  The
scholarship is nonrenewable; it can help with the transition to a new
school and will be paid as a lump sum in October 2007.

The total of the assistantship stipend, the summer research fellowship,
and the scholarship will be \$18,150.  The stipend for 2007--8 will be
at least \$13,650; we have not yet received final budget instructions,
but we anticipate being able to raise the stipend to approximately
\$14,030.  The Summer Research Fellowship carries a \$2,000 stipend
each summer.  The First Year Scholarship provides the balance of
the \$18,150.
