If a person go to any bookshops or libraries around him, it would be clearly that reading books actually plays an significant role for discerning countless people either are sitting or standing with a book in his hand which are essentially unlike what the speaker asserts that it is not as important as its past time due to the coming of the age of television. Moreover, indeed the advent of television enriches our capability of knowledge just like the books benefit us.


As I see, high-technology production --television has considerable merit which books cannot compare with in three respects. First, vivid image, directly voice, prompt information and the like succeed in satisfying different people's demands, including Anima World designed for the child, fashion show for vogue person, healthy program for the olds, and so forth. Second, with the rapid technology change, now, new generation of television can kinescope segments according personal needs and so each people can preserve the information from the television. A child saved knowledge which is concerned a lion's live,   while her father may conserve US news about the global economics. Third, I assume that every people will be favored that it takes less money to assimilate knowledge from the television than the books. After all, knowledge is infinite, and yet, money strolls the opposite way.


On the other hand, in virtue of substantial amounts of advantages of television, people extremely depend on it and thus a series of problems revealed. A research hails from Colombia University shows that a great deal of noxious elements damage our healthy in the process our preoccupation devote to TV programs. People may have eyestrain or myopia in the early time, but latter, one may vomit even cause carcinoma. Unfortunately, people have little demonization about these human killers. But will they decrease their infatuation in television if they know these killers?  I am not optimistic.


Fortunately, our society did not abandon books-reading in the age of television, moreover, people find out some strongpoint which nothing can substitute. One is that books cannot produce radiation and therefore hurt us. The other is that when we read a book, we enhance our capability of knowledge and information forwardly, and yet, we passively educate as we are watching TV .Furthermore, book has experienced lots of dynasties as well as countless people which shows a fresh face very different from the old ones today. Plastic books, subminiature books and the like emerge in endlessly that can fulfill various people’s distinct needs.


In sum, when we immerse ourselves to enjoy in the facilities television bring to us, we should have a clearly consciousness of the bad effects it fetch to us and utilize fully both advantages of television and books correctly can maximize the profit.
