Should all nations help support a global university designed to engage students in the process of solving the most persistent problems of the world? Although the speaker overlooks some disadvantages of the university, I fundamentally agree with the notion that all countries should help to solve the social problems of the world, since the result might be better and some problems do need the help of other countries.
Indisputably, some urgent problems of the society will be resolved well if all nations make their contribution. In fact, some of the problems are the problems of(which do effective to) the entire human. Every people have an obligation to help solving it. For example the problem of environment, such as green-house effect and the problem of ozone avoid is one of the most persistent environment problems of us. If we do not solve it as soon as we can, it is entire possible that it will lead to the extinction of human. (我觉得这个例子觉得很好,把这个题目扩展到百年大计了。但是就例举写法而言,我觉得举例内容过于空洞,有些像托福作文的例子写法:Here is an example in environment field which can embrace my reason, the green-house effect and the ozone avoid, which will course increasing of temperature and thus a risen of sea level, which will lead to ****自己完善一下巴)To solve this problem, different nations have different methods. There is no doubt that each method has its own merits. Thereby, if we can get the merits of each method together, it will probably resolve the problem in a more effective way. The global university, however, is a good way to achieve the idea and will benefit us more.
Furthermore, some of the pressing problems are not able to be resolved if it only depends on the efforts of one country(unless it has been discused by many countries.). Only when(if) all nations make their great efforts, then we are(were) able to be in hope of resolving them(these problems). Some of the problems, especially the problems of developing countries, are hardly able to be resolved, since the birth of the problem is actually due to backwardness of the country. Therefore, it is nearly impossible to solve the problem by itself. The problem of food and clothing which is the urgent problem of some countries comes to a good example. In fact, the problem itself has proved that these countries are not easy to resolve it. Thus, the help from developed countries are necessary. They are able to bring the advanced technology to these nations. And the global university is the way to do such approach. Students all over the world will have opportunity to study there, and then bring the advanced methods to resolve their countries problems.
Nevertheless, anything has its advantages and anyhow disadvantages. We should not only see the merits, but also notice the problems. To build a university, the courses educated in it are big problems, as different countries have different needs. It is hardly possible to fulfill the requirement of all nations. So which problem should be studied first is a trouble. For instance, the problem of too overpopulation is the main problem of some countries. On the contrary, such problem does not exist and some may even have a sparse population. It is difficult to reconcile the two parts. If what course we should set just depends on the fund each country thrown in, the result will be that the advanced countries will be more advanced, yet the problems of backward nations will still be available and thus they may also fall behind as they were before. In a word, although the benefits of the global university are considerable, they are not able to reflect if these problems have not been resolved appropriately. (没太看明白,课程设置的困难和人口数有什么关系么?)
In the final analysis, the development of a global university will certainly have positive influence to the whole world. Yet there are still a serious of problems of the global university should be resolved. On balance, the benefits which the university brings are far more than its disadvantages. Thus, such action should be supported.
