I fundmentally agree with the viewpoint that all nations should help support the development of a global university, nonetheless, faced with the complex international instance and sorts of acute relationship between nations, there are some factors worthy of our consideration.
Admittedly, it is a fact that a global university helps to solve lots of problems of the whole human society in many aspects and drive it toward. We need all nations' resource to explore the origin of human beings and draw the enormous gene pool of human body. Any minority is an indispensable part of the graph; to solve kinds of enigmas can not depart from technology of all nations which we are puzzled with, either. For example, it is impossible that exploitations of oceans and universe just depend on one country. Truly, the glory world of the day is the harvest of the whole human, and we can better make use of all nations’ power if a global university is set up.
Hence, indeed we can derive many merits from developing a global university.
However, there stands many problems we must come up against during the time when the global university is developed. A clear point is disparate culture and custom among nations. In many countries, people retain different religionary faith. Thus discrepancies of habits and customs result into confliction easily. You can not expect what will happen when someone enjoys pork in the sight of Muslim, and Christian do not feel well when they hear the god is being curved either. Besides, the level of collegers from different countries exist diversity because of education extension. It is difficult to make decisions to what extent certain course should be set. For instance, in some nations, students have learned how to use calculous in the high school, while in areas, it is difficult for many students to calculate algebra adroitly. And so no matter what extent courses are set, there are always some students who will encounter troubles. The global university will not come true until many analogous problems are dealt with.
I suspect the possibility whether or not students can exert their ability and wisdom to solve those global problems in campus. The main aim of Collegers should be learning more knowledge as possible as they can, but not in pursuit of making out those global problems which are out of their ability. If people ask them to solve those puzzle, not only come nothing out, but also the students may lose heart because of failing to accomplish targets. Moreover, it is likely that the global university can be controlled by some countries, as their exclusive tools. We must admit that developed countries possess more funds than other countries. They are able to take charge of the global university by the preponderance of funds. In that case, the search circumstance may turn into unfairness. The developed countries expect solving problems of themselves first by the strength of the global university, although those studies are little beneficial to the whole world.
In sum, I support the standpoint that a global university should be set up fundmentally. Notwithstanding, many blocks must be surmounted before the global university comes being. Aside from the idea, exchange visits of professors and students among nations may also be effective. Universities should create opportunities for collegers to learn different cultures and research under the tuition of professors. And then the enigma in the world can get less and less. |
