With the spread of television, there is a view that watching television can replace reading books since people can learn a great deal similar to reading via watching. As far as I am concerned, reading is still a main method while watching is an important way.

Though watching television provides an alternative, reading books still plays an important role in learning. The essential reason to support it is that reading is still an efficient method. While reading, one can control the whole proceed of it. Someone tend to read the whole material in the linear way while some others may be apt to choose what they are interested in and then read it selectively. Though A book may be presented in one form the way one want to read in large depends on what he want to receive and what the type of the book is. When considering a book named "The Physics", A freshman may read it throughout during the first semester and then, when the final exam is coming, he may select what he do not actually comprehend to read. In the lab, a researcher may even view it as a formulation reference book. When watching television, however, people must look at the screen from the very beginning to the end or to the time when he is tired of the program. During this time, he must follow the scheme of the program regardless of how incompatible the it is to him and in some program there may be some ads and consequently he must watch the ads equally or turn off the volume and do some else which may result in forgetting the existence of the program.

In addition, there are tremendous material is provided in the form of books. From the ancient era, a great number of scientists indoctrinated their knowledge to books. In the north of Egypt, there was once a library which collected the information provided by the earlier people. The knowledge today, however, is in great deal and most of them is in the form of books. It should be admitted that we could not transfer them into CDs. As a result, people must learn to fetch from these existed books.

On the other hand, watching television make great contribution to comprehension of knowledge in the form rather than reading. A study shows that in some fields the form of movie is more comprehensive than reading. If one want to learn how some molecules fuse into one molecule, what is the best way to show it? Is it easy to read such as "four H molecules moves near and they form a H molecule and at the same time a great energy is released" or to watch them in the television that the former description is presented? Almost everyone will agree with the latter answer. In the modern era, we may notice that the number of using television to teach is growing increasingly. In HP corp. the managers play television program to let their employees to study such as computer programming and management. The MIT recently public his teaching material some of which is provided in the form of video. Some schools even teach their students by transmitting the real video in the internet.

In sum, we can conclude that reading books is still an essential way while some other ways such as watching television are important complements to reading.
