Argument9
The following appeared in a memorandum from a dean at omeaga university .
Fifteen years ago ,omega university implemented a new procedure that encouraged students to evaluate the teaching effectiveness of all their professors ,since that time ,omega professors have begun to assign higher grades in their classes ,and overall student grade averages at omega university have risen by thirty present ,potential employers apparently believe the grades at omega are inflated ,this would explain why omega graduates have not been as successful at getting jobs as have graduates form nearby alpha university ,to enable its graduate to secure better jobs ,omega university should now terminate student evaluate of professors .

提纲:前提是评分制度使德OMEGA这大大学的同学在求职上的没有竞争力
      结论是要加强求职竞争力,要结束这种平分制度
      1结论错 要提高竞争力,还有别的因素 ,如专业水平 ,竞争力 ,口才 ,交流 ,城信 ,课程设计要对位 ,经验 等(there are some other alternatives )
       不必然的 :就算结束了这种平分制度 ,就一定能增加竞争水平的吗 ?还有工作能力问题 ,经验 ,专业对口 ,竞争对手的状况 ,要人单位的要人情况等等问题哦 ,其中一个出了问题 ,就算结束了平分制度 ,也会一样达不到效果。
      2前提错  没有证据证明是平分制造成求职位的劣势。
       A给高分有可能是因为学生确实是学习认真了 ,效果提高了 ,或是题目简单了 ,
         GA提高有可能是因为有新转来的比较多的好学生 。或是课程改革了 ,学生更喜欢,更有兴趣 ,有引进好的老师,和设备 ,
       B 没有A大学的学生好找工作有其他的因素 ,可能可能设置不对市场的要求 ,O大学的同学没有经验 能力不足 ,学艺不精 例外这两个地方不同 ,经济状况不同 ,专业领域不同 ,根本没有办法进行比较 还有他们对工作要求不同呢


In this analysis ,the dean assumes that it is due to the evaluation system that discourage students in getting jobs , based on which he drew the conclusion that to enable the students secure better jobs ,the evaluation measure should be canceled .to support his assumption ,the author cited some data that there is a 30% increasing about the grade average , in addition , some evidence are added that employers are less likely to hire the omga university students because of their distrust towards the relatively high grades .the argument seems logical and smooth ,but further examination reveal that the reasoning was logically flawed in some respects as its stands .

First and foremost , suppose the assumption that the evaluation system that discourage students in getting jobs was correct ,  based on which the drawing of the conclusion was unwarranted . there are some other alternatives to secure better jobs for omega university , for instance , the university would offer more opportunities for students get more part—time jobs in order to increase their experience , more scientific ,and practical curriculum would be re-assigned to arouse students’ interests to better learning as well as better match the requirement of the position .more trainings about impressive interview skills would take place to ensure  relatively positive interviews . students’ major competence should be emphasized , some other essence virtue would be impart to students , including honesty , team-work spirit , and efficiency when doing a business . without ruling out other alternative mean of securing better jobs for omega university students , the author can not confidently conclude that canceling the evaluation measure must be adopted in order to achieve the goal .

The recommendation depends on the additional unsubstantiated assumption that canceling the evaluation system will surely reach the goal of helping students securing their jobs . however ,this is groundless ,it is entirely possible that even the evaluation system was eradicated , due to some other factors ,including poor major competence , lacking of experience , scant belief of the respect to other co-workers , team –works ,the students will stay at the negative position of getting better jobs .     




Secondly , the assumption that it is due to the evaluation system that discourage students in getting jobs is poorly supported in this argument .

Initially , the followed  relatively better performance  was scant evidence that the grade are inflated . it is entirely possible that because of the evaluation which greatly spurred the professors in paying more attention on teaching rather than researching  that students are bettered informed , that classes are re-designed to arouse students’ interest , and as a consequence ,students are actually making progress at their subjects rather than inflated grades are given . besides ,maybe ,the tests was easier than previous years that lead to a higher grade . or , a flux of excellent students are enrolled in the university and at the same time some poor performed students are transferred away from here .without taking account into such factors ,the author can hardly convince me that the grades are inflated .


Then , the evidence that the regarded inflated grades are reasons of poor employment of omga university compared with alpha university is groundless . maybe it is because of the relatively booming economy in alpha that lead its better employment , or other alternatives including better majors ,  practical curriculums , more experiences , better senses of collaboration , competition , efficiency ,as well as honesty that lead to better job employment . moreover ,maybe , the students of omega are concerned more about better-paid , higher positioned jobs than the students form alpha university . besides ,no specific comparison about the two universities  ,maybe , alpha university has such evaluation system too , which directly disapprove the author’s assumption .

in the final analysis ,this is a logically  flawed argument , to better assess it , I will need to know the if the higher grades are truly inflated or not , the specific comparison of the two university’ students , the economy of the two different places .
