Should all students be required to take at least one course in ethic, even if taking the course means a decreased emphasis on academic sujects? The speaker claims so. I concede that taking at least one course in ethics is necessary for students, however, i do not agree decreaseing emphasis on academic subjects is caused by taking the course.
First, learning ethcis is good for student to cooperation, compromise and understand the viewpoint of others. Asking students to take at least one course in ethics is good for their job and career in long-term. From ethics students can learn some basic values which students cannot learn from academic study. These values include principle of fairness and equity on which our system of laws is based, as well as the values of the viewpoint of others. At the workplace those values manifest themselves in a work's ability to cooperate, compromise understand various viewpoints.
However, learing the course so much that decreased emphasis on academic subjects is unnecessary. If the students do not get degree because take long time to study one course in ethics is unnecessary. Student will be hard for them to find a job and career without degree. And also do nothing for society because of less skill in their major. And then they could not earn money for their family and themselves.
Moreover, learing ethics is cooperate with their peers for improving their study rather than decreased emphasis on acdemic sujects. The purpose of learning ethic is improve the effectiveness of the study. And under standards of ethic students will get lots of friends which learn same academic study, they can discuss the study which they learn, and learn more knowledge from peers.
To sum up, I agree that learing ethics properly is necessary for student growing at their early era. However, learing ethics so much that decreased influence on academic study.
