Argument29
In this analysis ,the author assumes that the action would appeal to the citizen of the lake city ,based on which, he concludes that this action would guarantee mcallister’s success in her search for the city’s new mayor. To support his claim, he also cited some facts and make a analogical reasoning , the argument seems smooth and logical at first sight ,but further scrutiny reveal that it suffers a critical logical flaws as its stands .
First and foremost , suppose the assumption that the action would appeal to the citizen of lake city is correct , the conclusion based on which in unwarranted , to vote for the new mayor , there are some other factors which might be far more important than the citied one to take into account ,such as the competence of the new mayor , the personal credits of the candidate ,the contribution the candidate made to the local people . including honesty , charisma, besides , to win vote , some other process should be involved , such as the situation of other rivals ,an perfect campaign , an well organized team taking responsibility and making stratagem of the voting business , a relatively sufficient financial support .moreover , as she failed to win even 30persent of the votes , there must be some critical reasons for the failure ,without pointing out or fixing those critical problems that lead to her previous failure , the author made a hasty generation that ida will sure win the vote .
Secondly , the assumption that the action about prohibition of automobile of the park will be appeal to citizen there is groundless
Initially , the author made a false causal relationship about the non automobile prohibition under the will of mayor yu and the credit who gained about solving the pollution problem and improving the quality of the life , there may be other action which might be of greater effects to such contribution , such as a relatively rigor regulation about the emitting of waste of some heavily environmental challenged industries ,the lowering of taxes of the local residence , the improving of the local economy ,which might be the real reason of the bettering of the quality of lives in Plainville .then ,the author made a false analogy between the Plainville and lake city , it is entirely possible that the plainville’s air pollution is far more worse than that of lake city , or the major criminal of air pollution of lake city was not because of the automobile , but of the heavy industries there , or the polluted air is spread by the neighboring place as the wind goes by , and as a consequence , there is scant necessity to prohibit automobile in all parks in lake city . moreover ,there is no evidence that the citizen of lake city will be appeal to the action , no direct data was provided , it is logical that the citizen might be a discontent due to the inconvenience to go to parks if such prohibition was acted , and there might be a potential decreasing of the visitor of the park ,which would bring a decrease or recess of the park’s income and directly lead to a relatively heavy tax load to the parks and the lower income of the staff there , and would finally leading to a discontent and less –harmonious situation in a long-term .without taking such element into account , the author can hardly convince me that people in the lake city would be appealed to the action .
in the final analysis ,the arguer made a unconvinced reasoning , to better assess this argument , I will need to know the current environmental situation of the lake city , the comparison of the two city , a detailed survey about the attitude of the action would be well suggested , besides ,I will need to know the reasons that lead to the failure of the ida mcallister running for mayor four years ago ,the contribution as well as her competence , personal credited , the charisma to be a effective leader , and people’s attitude towards his running for mayor . |
