Dear XXX:

We are pleased that you have been admitted to our graduate program in the Department of Chemistry this fall. We would like to offer you a position as a teaching assistant for the 2007-2008 academic year. Below we have outlined for you the terms of the assistantship, including a statement on the nature of your responsibilities.

Your appointment as a teaching assistant would be for the 2007-2008 academic year and would include a stipend of $14,000 for this period. In return, you would be expected to work approximately 20 hours per week beginning with the first day of classes and extending through finals week. Your assignment would be undergraduate laboratory instruction. As a research group member, you will receive an additional summer stipend of $4,000. Also, you will receive a tuition scholarship for up to 10 credits per semester for the 2007-08 academic year.
