In this letter, the author, a manager of the Double Rice band, claims that the band’ s success in a recent concert in Megalopolis mainly relies on the advertising cmpaign by the Ad Lid advertising agency as well as the increased popularity of the band. To bolster the claim, the author points out that 30,000 tickets for Double Rice’s concert in Megalopolis sold out in 12 minutes, comparing that one years ago, tickets for Double Rice’s concert around the country should sold out at least 24 hours, if it did. However, clear consideration of this evidence, I find it unconvincing as it stands.
To begin with, the mere fact that 30,000 tickes for Double Rice’s concert sold out in 12 minutes only in Megalopolis completes nothing towards suporting that the Double Rice band is popular in the country . Perhaps the residents in Megalopolis is more interested in Double Rice band than people in nationwide area. Perhaps the concert is only staged in Megalopolis and the number of tickets is scant while the attendees from the country is superfluous. Or perhaps the spend of a ticket is lower than the former one and more people is affordable to attend a concert. So, without considering and ruling out these possibility, the claim that the Double Rice band is increasingly popular around country is hasty.
Secondly, even if the phenomena from the Double Rice band concert in Megalopolis reflect a nationwide popularity among 14 to 25 year olds, it do not indicate that in the foreseeable furture the Double Rice band remain the surge all around the country. It is entirely possible that the style of the band just keep pace with the present fashion, or that the adoration among youngers for the Double Rice band is ephemeral and when a new band appear the fans could easily change their likes. Therefore, only relying on a concert the author fail to assert that the popularity of Double Rice band is enjoying a surge in a longer time.
Furthermore, the author contributes the ticket sales in Megalopolis to the Ad Lid advertising agency ,which runs the advertising cmpaign for the Double Rice band and express his desire that in order to repeat the success in Megalopolis, Ad Lid should be hired to duplicate the Megalopolis ad campaign on a nationwide scale. However, the author ignore the ability of the whole band and excessively emphasize the effect of Ad Lid advertising agency. Meanwhile, he overlooks that another advertising agency could have the capability to reach to the same or better impact on the advertising cmpaign for the Double Rice band. Moreover, no evidence indicates that Ad Lid which successfully run the Megalopolis campiagn for the Double Rice band are able to successful accomplish the nationwide campiagn. So, the decision of continued hiring the Ad Lid advertising agency is eyeless.
In conclusion, the author’ s reasons and evidence is unpersuasive. To convince me that the the Double Rice band has the increasingly popularity among 14 to 25 year olds all around country and the Ad Lid advertising agency could bring the best influence on the Double Rice band’s concert, the author should provide the statistics about the number of attendees in Megalopolis concert, the feelings toward this band prior to and after the concert and the Ad Lid advertising agency’s eptitude of holding nationwide ad campaign. To evalue the claim we also need to know the attendees’ opinion of this ad campiagn on the Double Rice’s concert in Megalopolis.
