What is the most effective way to transmit an idea or value to large groups of people? The speaker alleges that images should be considered as the better choice than language. In my point of view, I concede that images have the predominant advantage of providing a more vivid impression on people's mind, however, in some fields, language is the first choice for communication between people.

Admittedly, we are so lucky to have varieties of facilities, like photographs, videos and stero-animations, helping us to present our ideas, thoughts and even values in a more vivid way. Images pave the way for any people to surf this complicated world. Preschool kids get their first impression of science through Discovery Channel, even though they don't know how to spell out a word; Artists coming from different part of the world could be deeply moved by the masterpiece produced in Renaissance, although speaking different languages, holding various kinds of beliefs; no other forms of media like documentaries have the ability to represent the real scene of historical events, no matter how long ago did these events happen, wherever did they occur. With the help of most advantage techniques, time and space seem to be too feeble to impede people to understand this planet and thus engender human more confident to develop themselves.

However, image also has its own disadvantages in carrying information, while language could be a better supplant. Just take the field of literature as an example. Although images provide people with the vivacious, preprocessing characters on the screen or on the stage, nothing is better than the personal contact with those characters through languages. Only could those mellifluent words depict the best model to trace the idea of the writer. Every reader has his/her own endearing Scarlet while reading Gone With Wind, the one always better than anyone can enact. Moreover, language has served as the carrier for human value and thoughts for thousands of years and could be transformed from generation to generation. From the primitive phase of human society, maybe early in anteliteral stages, oral legend depicted the basic values and tributes for heroes or heroines which established the first moral examples for human. Either do archeologists try to decipher the ancient society through their languages, literal documents, or do those anthropologists collaborate with linguistics to learn the origin of different ethnics all over the world. Language might be the most mysterious heritage we get from our ancestors, encoding with our lineage and history.

Therefore, God endows us languages to communicate with each other, to express our feelings, to describe contemporary values and thoughts, whereas, those techniques we developed engender us to broader the way we carry those information and preserve more valuable ones. Images and language could serve as two complementary tools for people to document, preserve and transmit the pith of human intelligence and represent the ideas and values to people live in different districts and at disparate times.
