Is the most effective way to communicate an idea or value to large groups of people through the use of images rather than language, as the speaker asserts? In a sense, I tend to agree that images are more vivid and direct for people to observe thus may be more effective in some occasions. However, the speaker begs question by overlooking the crucial role of language in depicting objects and expressing feelings and unfairly considers it less important. In my point of view, both images and language are critical in communicating an idea or value, and a wise choice should be made to decide which method to use based on the certain occasion.

Images, which are more and more widely adopted in many aspects of our lives, have some valuable merits. They are directly shown, easily understood, and thus more powerful to inform people an idea or persuade them to accept a value. Take the billboard for example, it is widely used as a way of advertisement. The huge, beautiful image of a woman who as the advertisement asserts, has used a certain kind of cosmetics may be more convincing than any words to persuade the drivers pass by to purchase their products. The value of "By using our cosmetics, you can be as beautiful as the woman that we show you" is vividly expressed by the image, and it is more useful than the boring words of the products' introduction.

Simply put, without images, we would have to spend much more time to illustrate some concepts or principles. Graphs are used in math and physics to better define and analyze the problem, and maps are used in geography as well as our daily lives to help identify the positions. No such cases can be easily substituted by words.

On the other hand, however, images have their flaws. They are by nature less precise to express feelings. Although one can conclude whether the man in the picture is happy or angry, he can never identify the thoughts or feelings precisely. Van Gogh’s Sunflowers, for example, not every one till today can know exactly what he really means. Further, much useless information are imposed on us while we study the useful meanings of an image. They may distract our attention and cost unnecessary time and energy.

Compared with images, language, as the main method of communication since civilization, is more broadly used. And the thousands of millions of books which are left during human history are best proof of language’s effectiveness. It can be more efficient in expressing human feelings and what is most important, it can be passed through the air and go beyond visual limitations therefore more adaptive.
In conclusion, from what has been discussed above, we may finally draw the conclusion that both images and language have their distinct merits in communication. Whether we should use images or language or both and how much we should use either of them, depends primarily on the purpose of the communication. By careful choice, we can maximize the effectiveness of conveying ideas and values.

Whether we should use images or language or both and how much we should use either of them, depends primarily on the purpose of the communication. By careful choice, we can maximize the effectiveness of conveying ideas and values.你一开始提了一个很好的切入点，depends primarily on the purpose of the communication。可惜论述过程中没有完全按照这个来。有一种I写法是to A,….. to B, …..每一个一段。比较分类和说理清楚。不过你这样写也不算不好。结尾段略显TWE化。

写作技巧还要加油提高，字数也应该更多。字数略少，造成论证也不是很完整。多读和比较一下这篇题目别人的好文章，对比一下自己的缺陷和优点。
