Issue111 The worldwide distribution of television programs and advertisements is seriously diminishing the differences among cultures.
(红笔为写作时写错的词,觉得例子不太好举,主题也不太好把握)
A culture of one nation is shaped by its people by hundreds of years, by one generation laying a brick upon another. A culture of a nation is the Great Wall of China, the Arc De Triompheof France, the White House of America and the Pyramid of Egypt. With its colorful history background, a culture of a particular nation is definitely not easy to be assimilated or even removed by another culture of a very different nation by any method, let alone televisions or advertisements.
Even when a nation is disappeared from the world, its particular culture will still remain among us. This can be approved by the true evidences (铁证) in history that in Tsing Dynasty of Man races who defeated the Han races of Ming Dynasty and usurp the throne in Chinese history, Emperor Kangxi's best policy is to sustain the culture of Ming Dynasty and employ Han races as important administrators, such as Peigong Zhou. This policy makes the two races with different cultures live harmoniously. And Kangxi became the Emperor who is in office the longest (中国史上在位最长的皇帝).
Admittedly, the widespread of multimedia and fast development of IT industry is making people, even living on the different continents, closer to each other. The invention of IPTV is even more convenience for its users to choose whatever program they would like to watch. One could easily get information about another's culture. It is very common to buy Chinese dumpling or Italy pasta in an American supermarket. More and more Chinese people are changing their reserved nature to a more opening one due to the influence of Western movies and so on.
It is true that people don't care much about culture differences nowadays. And they are curious to learn something different, interesting, thrilling and even terrifying. It is human nature of curiosity that causes them to probe into different cultures with great interest. But the less care for the differences among cultures does not mean that these differences will be diminished eventually. Actually, it is the differences among cultures that help a nation culture grow mature. And it is just the differences among cultures that make the world colorful and exiting.
Through differences, people see their advantages and disadvantages with a three-dimensional perspective on issues (立体的). This really helps them to complement what they lack and further develop what they already advantages. The ancient Chinese didn't realize this point and closed all its harbors for foreigner to trade, which leads to their lack of knowledge of the outside world and finally the failure of the wars against intruders. While the Europeans developed bombs and rifles on the basis of Chinese great invention of dynamite and developed them into powerful weapons, which helped them win the wars. It is the bravery to acknowledge the shortcomings and the efforts paid to change the circumstance that develops a nation much a stronger one. In this aspect, Japan is a good example, who developed into the world 5th strongest commercial country even after the great destruction of the Second World War.
In a word, culture differences can never disappear/vanish/dissolve. Questions rise up every minute in every day. But this is never a terrible thing to accept differences among nations because a nation itself needs them. The judge of "the world widespread multimedia is diminishing these differences" is definitely not correct. However, this great method of multimedia which is getting people closer to each other and easier for them to contact has really helped the nations to develop faster. People get information faster and learn the advanced knowledge of other cultures more quickly than the past days. The internet is helping millions and thousands of scientists, politics, workers, doctors, etc. to know what's new today and improve their work and make their judge in a more serious way.
The Utopia is hard to realize. But the harmonious atmosphere and the fierce (激烈的) rival among nations is due to these different cultures. The distribution of multi-media is not diminishing the differences among nations but stimulating the development of them.
After all, one's deepest love from the bottom of his heart is always his love of his own nation. Everything learnt from the differences is to develop his motherland a better place. Then on the macro aspect, the world develops with its nation elements.
