Alone with the development of media, great amounts scandals are exposed to the public which seriously diminish the reputations for a few famous. So there raise a question whether these scandals are useful? Concerning this issue, I am prone to claim that though the scandals would draw close attentions from the people, they alone could not lead to promotions not only to the progress of the society but also the improved quality of daily lives for ordinary people.

To begin with, by revealing the defects of a few people with high celebrities, the scandals would, in the first place, to remind the leaders or already famous individuals to ameliorate personal manners, if they do not want to receive disdain from the public. Many persons, who have already gained significant social positions, lost all their possessions just for certain scandals. Consider, for instance, the formal president of America, Nixon had nothing to do but lose the position as the leader of US for the exposure of Watergate events, which told the public that their president was not as honest as they had imagined. To some extent, the people living at high social level dare the exposure by scandals more than the public, for their cost paid for the scandals would surpass that of the ordinary individuals. Therefore, proper revelation of scandals of the few famous persons is able to warn them that all their possessions are on the basis of public trust, if they lose the base they will be entirely deprived.

At the same time, the scandals also endow the public clear and objective knowledge and critic upon the preeminent ones, and eliminate improper personal worship. As common sense, no one would be perfect enough to avoid committing mistakes. So there are many scandals as well that would not be totally deprive social reputations for the few famous, but typically expose marginal defects. Simply, before the discovery of such scandals, the leaders or famous stars are overdue admired and trusted to be almighty. Proper exposure of defects, such as abnormal living habits, could make the public objective that the famous people are just common human being similar with everyone when making judgments upon these famous individuals.

Yet, that is not to say the scandals are useful regardless of the degree of the exposure is. On the contrary, improper and too frequent revelations of scandals would not be conducive to maintain a stable value system for the public. It is generally accepted that the few successful individuals are example s for people to follow. To be captious about tiny weak points of these individuals, which probably abates the trust of the public, inevitably contributes to the fact that people would not find proper examples to follow. Gradually, the people lose core of faith, and the society forfeits its the kernel of social value system.  As a consequence, at the moment of judging a successful person, one should concentrate the chief characteristics rather than include all the aspects of his life, in other words, deliberately neglect the periphery factors such as daily appearance.

Moreover, the scandals alone could not be useful either unless it cooperate with the reformers or critics who are excel at analyzing social phenomena. The effect of scandals only involves in exposure and drawing attentions from the public. Whereas the ones who merely reveal the scandals but do not give corresponding objective comments upon the scandals would not lead to a final result to the public to show reality. Rather, it is the critics and reformers that deal with the data or affairs provided to conclude no matter suggestions for  or serious disdain upon the famous people who are the leading actor in the scandals. Only through their works could the scandals really come into effect. Under this circumstance, except the cooperation of scandals and the analysis or comments by the critics, there would not be a more effective method to bring about promotion to the society.

In brief, the scandals could bring objective and clear knowledge of famous individuals, but on the basis of cooperation with the works of critics and reformers.
