The speaker asserts that the artist gives society something of lasting value, but the critic does not. I fundamentally agree with the speaker that artists create something of lasting value. Yet in my observation, critics are indispensable to artists. [我同意artist gives something,但是我认为critic不可少,这里有没有转折的意味?此处用yet妥否?]可!
Admittedly, it is the artists that create valuable art works that have impact on later generation(子孙后辈我也不知道怎么表达,我用的是future generation,你查到了PM我啊)(另外,开头这句好像没有引领这段文字啊,后面为什么又扯到music上面去了?我的意见是这句话可以放后面说). These art works have significant meaning for people. For instance, through the great works of Homer, Iliad and Odyssey, we can know the lives and spirits of the ancient brave Greeks and gain courage to face the difficulties in our lives. Moreover, some works can teache us lessons(这句话表达的不好,直接说我们可以gain or learn from the works就行了). For example, Shakespeare's Macbeth tells us that undue ambition is fatal. In addition, many art works such as some music, some poem and so forth can offer us enjoyable experiences. In short, the works created by artists have much value.
Although it is the artist who creates the valuable works, the critic is important when it comes to helping people understand the works of arts. Since critics are more familiar with the artists(为什么?不明白,难道ARTIST自己不熟悉自己的作品吗?是要表达旁观者清的意思吗??) and have insight of the works of the artists, they can help the laymen understand the art works, especially the abstruse ones. Take Picasso for example, his abstract painting is so abstruse that few people are able to know what he wants to show by his works. Without the critic, Picasso may not be accepted by the public and might not become such a famous artist. Therefore, it is the critic who helps the works to be understood and the art known by the public.
Furthermore, critics can provide valuable feedbacks to artists, which facilitate artists to better their works. As known to all, two heads is better than one and it is often easier for others to find the flaws of one's own works. Consider how the writers write a book.(这应该算是个分句吧?) A writer have to finish the manuscript first and then he or she would modify the manuscript again and again and the comments of critics helps him or her a lot by offering various advice form many angles.(顺序有问题,一般来说critics是在完成了的作品上进行评论,而且一个作品完成了,一般也不会再改动,只能说是对这个artist以后的作品上有影响吧) Moreover, many artists themselves are critics and they give suggestion to others' works as well as creating their own works. Thus, critics contribute to enhance the value of art works.
In sum, although invaluable art works are created by artists, critics give advice to help artists better their work and offer introduction to laymen helping them understand the art works. Therefore, the critic is indispensable to the artist and their works.
层次感比较好,论述有些地方不妥.加油! |
