This is surely an era of television, as the author asserts, reading books is not fashion now, while watching television is the rage, for people can learn equally from these two aspects. However, in my view, the knowledge learning from reading books and television differs, and severs as different purpose, then discuss infra.

For book's sake, books are the step of human progress, that is, from the history of human, books play an essential role in human life. Reading serves for delight, in privateness and retiring, for ornament, in discourse and for ability, in the judgment and disposition of business. Reading gives us knowledge all over the universe, history, geography, art, philosophy, mathematics, logic, and almost all realms. The main function that reading exerting is to use them, to weigh and consider, as books do not teach this, which must obtain through observation. Furthermore, through reading, we could make up some defects of our intelligence, just like if one not apt to bear over matters, and to call up one thing and illustrate another, we could let him study the lawyer's cases. So, reading books teach us so much not only involve in knowledge, but also in the attitude.

As the development of technology, TV became a new and trendier information-got way. We may obtain almost all knowledge we want to understand through TV, including the knowledge we obtain from books before. We could know what happens outside world only before TV in the first time. Also TV provides a visual method that the books could not provide, and we may establish idiographic objects rather than imagination. We could see all over the world, watch the world famous art work through eyes, and get the status of our favorite people in sight.

However, while the television brings advantages beyond the books, it brings disadvantages. On one hand, with the dependence on media, we may have less and less our own words to the world issue, as we became more and more accustomed to positive accept rather than to think independently. On the other hand, the visualization deteriorates our imagination little by little. Some television works originating from famous literature always turn out to be despair, as there are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people's eyes. Additionally, some of us are tired of the TV opera played on TV every day and night, for it deviate our daily life and being ridiculous.

But for these, reading could be a better way. It is a progress thinking and imaging for selves, and could interact with the author in minds in the classic literature.   

So as a conclusion, TV provides us the popular voice and popular culture, while turn to books, we could get a peace for delight, think for selves and changing our minds with the author.
