47.Scientists studying historical weather patterns have discovered that
in the mid-sixth century, Earth suddenly became significantly cooler. Although
few historical records survive from that time, some accounts found both in Asia
and Europe mention a dimming of the sun and extremely cold temperatures. Either
a huge volcanic eruption or a large meteorite colliding with Earth could have
created a large dust cloud throughout Earth's atmosphere that would have been
capable of blocking enough sunlight to lower global temperatures significantly.
A large meteorite collision, however, would probably create a sudden bright flash
of light, and no extant historical records of the time mention such a flash. Some
surviving Asian historical records of the time, however, mention a loud boom that
would be consistent with a volcanic eruption. Therefore, the cooling was probably
caused by a volcanic eruption.

In the author's view ,he draws the conlusion that the cooling probably resulted
from a volcanic eruption.To support his view,the author points out that there is
no extant historical records of the time mention such a flash which should occur

illogical assumption,I am suspicious of the author's conlucsion.
First of all, there is little relativity between the loud boom and the volcanic
eruption.It is possible that the loud boom is attributed to many other factors.
Perhaps,the was a big explosion of something rather than the volcanic eruption.Or
perhaps,the sudden change of the earth resulted  in the loud boom.
There is even a chance that  historical records was false in itself.Without ruling
out the possibilities mentioned above,I can not be convinced by the author's  irrationl
conlusion.
Besides,the no extant historical records mentioning a bright flash of light does not
mean that a large meteorite collision did not  exsit during that time.It is possible
that flash of light which was occurd in some places where no human exsited then,even
though the flash of light was observed by someone ,perhaps the people did not have their
own words to record the phenomenon.
Even if someone recorded the flash of light luckly,the historical records had been ruined
a long time ago.So,I am still specious about the author's conclusion.
Thirdly,there is much relativilty bewteen the loud boom and the volcanic eruption,it is
hard to say that the cooling was caused by the volcanic eruption.The author gives no
information about the temperature's changing after the eruption.The earth may not become
significantly cooler after the loud boom which undermines the author's assuption strongly.
Furthermore,maybe there are other reasons resulting the sudden cooling besides the author
mentions in the argument.Thus,I am not bewilderd easily by the author's conclusion.
To sum up,I can come to the conclusion safely that the author's conclusion is totally
unfounded and illogical.To make the conlusion more cogent,the author should give more
information about the temparture changing after the loud boom,the records about the bright
flash of light,and the other possible existing reasons

In the author's view, he claims the convention that scandals can be very useful in many fields and they
focus our attention on problems than many other ways. In my opinion, I think it is a complex issue which
need a further analysis before the conclusion is made.
First of all, we must admit that we can benefit a lot from the scandals. In politics, it is helpful to
improve the efficiency and transparency of the government after the Tony Blair's making up intelligence
in the Iraq War. In academia, the authenticity of the academic research is more convincing through the
scandals such as Hwang Woo Suk' cheating in many of his researches. In business, companies' financing is
more transparent and authentic after the scandals such as                                                         .
So,it is certain that the scandals have a good effect on our lives.

On the other hand, the huge damage the scandals bring to people must be taken into account. The media is
always interested in revealing and even creating the scandals for satisfying the masses extreme demands
which ,of course, disturb many other people's lives and overpass their privacy. The deeds must do a big
harm to the people who are involved in the scandals. Many famous stars have lunacy for long time's standing
with the stress from the public and even some suicide after a terrible struggle with the press. As a matter
of fact, the scandals are often aggrandized and lack of authenticity . So, the scandals exert a bad influence
on our daily lives.
Besides, the scandals frequently mislead the masses, give false information to them, and cover some real
fact beneath them. Politician use scandals to focus our attention on other things rather than the very
things which they don not want us to care about in order to hide some secrets. The press often report only
one aspect of the people which misleads the masses that the people is so bad that we should not give any
mercy for them. In order to be more rational in face of the scandals, we must improve our    ability and
have a deep thought about the motivation of revealing the scandals.
To sum up, I agree partly with the author's claims .Even though the scandals are useful for us, we must
be more rational and meticulous in front of the scandals. Only through the deeper analysis by ourselves,
can the scandals ' good effect be used better and bad effect be minimized effectively.
