观点：是artist创造了为社会创造了具有长久价值的事物，但是critic也起到不小的作用。
一. artist为创造出有价值的事物。
artist能够指引某个领域的发展方向。例子：时装界。
artist能将他们对于生命的理解融入艺术品中，创造出惊世骇俗的(exclamatory)艺术品。
例子：毕加索（Picasso，abstractionist）的抽象画（abstraction）:he was once asked about the
secret of his creation, Picasso said : "Every one of my paintings are embodied with my blood,
and this is meaning of my art "
贝多芬（Beethoven）的交响曲（symphony），His main nine symphonies reflect his unyielding
Faith against his wretched destiny
玛格丽特?米切尔（Margaret Mitchell ）的飘, heroine’s persistence , patience and courage ,
love story set in the Civil War of America
二．critic有助于发现事物的价值。
有些很有价值的艺术品因为创作者的不出名而被视为没有价值，被封存了
很多年，而Critic就有可能发现它们的价值。
例子：凡高。（Van Gogh）印象派（impressionism）与后印象派（postimpressionism）的冲突。

三．Critic也有助于民众对艺术作品的欣赏。
   很多艺术作品的内容非常丰富，需要Critic为我们揭示。
   Critic具有丰富的专业知识，敏锐的（acuminous）洞察力，系统地分析标准。
   同时，在一定程度上，衡量一件艺术品的标准来源于Critic。
   例子：生活中有大量的展览，演出需要Critic
四．但是有时候critic破坏了artist创造出来的事物的价值。
   Critic的水平参差不齐，他们对艺术品的理解必然会遮蔽一些艺术品本来蕴含的东西。
   有些艺术品拥有的内涵需要与作者类似的经历才能真正感受，而Critic往往没有，故他们
   理解可能是片面的，不正确的。

In the author's view, he asserts that it is the artist not the critic who gives society something
of lasting value. As far as I am concerned, I agree partly with his assertion. It is certain that
artist create many things of lasting value, however, the function of the critic should not be
understated.

In the first place, we must admit the fact that it is the artist who contributes to so many treasures.
Artists are ahead of times and can predict and determine the trend in certain fields. Taking the fashion
for example, if you want to know the trend of fashion last year, you can go to many famous fashion show
in Milan or in New Yoke .Some artists involve their own understanding into their arts and the arts are
indicators of their lives and motion to some extent. The Picasso, a preeminent abstractionist ,was once
asked about the secret of his creation, Picasso said: "Every one of my paintings are embodied with my blood,
and that is the meaning of my art. Beethoven, a famous composer, created the immortal nine symphonies which
reflected his unyielding faith against his wretched destiny. Margaret Mitchell, the author of masterpiece
entitled with the Gone with the wind, characterize her heroine with patience, persistence and courage and her
love stories set in the Civil War of America. Only through the artist art can we realize the real value contained
under their works. So, the artists play a essential role in creating things of lasting value.

Nevertheless, the artist's function can not overshadow the significant effect of the critic .Even though
many people have a belief that a treasure will always show its value in someday, it is hard to ensue that
lots of valuable things once created by many common artists are overlooked gradually without our attention.
But critics have the ability to recognize the true value of some such works and show their value to our populace.
The history informs us that Van Gogh, one of the eminent painters, experienced a wretched life and complex society
when he was alive which resulted form the conflict about impressionism and post impressionism .The critic at his
time did not assure his works value with a different type and it is also the critic who reveal his arts value
after accepting his type of work after he death. Thus, lots of artists can rise to fame and show their valuable
works to world by the effort of the critics.

Moreover, the meaning contained in the arts is nonobjective and abstruse for many populaces to understand which
undermine the transmission of the works. The artists have the ability and duty to bridge the gap with their
professional knowledge about the art acuminous insight into the fashion and systematic standard for assessing
the value of works. Admittedly, the real value of art should be reflected by its own content, we have to concede
that the analysis of the art needs a scientific standard which is determined mainly by the critics. If we cast a
look at our daily lives, we will find many prizes given every year in nearly every aspect of realm. Only through
the prizes after a cautious judgment by the critics can our populace be convenient and easy to choose our favorite
films, clothes and cars, realize the most impressive thing of lasting value in the world. So, the critics should
convey the value to people.

In addition, the negative effect brought by the critic should also be taken into account. The distinct
levels of various critics can not guarantee the authenticity and objectiveness of the appraisement.
It is entirely possible that parts of the arts’ content are filtered by the critics’ subjective judgment.
As a matter of fact, many arts’ inherent meanings can only be understood correctly by possessing the similar
experience of creators which is hard to share by the critics. So, we should be more objective and sensible in
face of the critics’ remarks.

To sum up, I hold the contention that both the critic and the artist have a vital effect on creating valuable things.
Only through their cooperation, can the things of value be showed effectively and easily to  us.
