The conclusion that the best way to restoreTria' fish populations and to protect all of Tria's marine wildlife is toabandon our regulations and adopt those of Omni seems at first glance to beconvinced notion. To support the conclusion the author present evidence thatmany fish populations in Tria's water are declining what was blamed onpollution. In addition an analogy between Tria and Omni was provided in orderto justify the notion. After a careful examination of this argument wouldreveal how groundless this conclusion is.

In the first place, more evidence should begiven in order to justify the decline in fish population is caused bypollution. The population of fish in a region is determined by many factors.Firstly, the mammals in the marine near Tria was protected, in this situationthose kind of animals' population may soar up, what may lead to the extinguishmentof fish which may be the food of those mammals. Secondly, the climate factorshould be take in count, because may be some kinds of fish eggs can merely incubatedin a certain temperatures. Thirdly, those fish which might be live out of 20miles of Tira where the oil drilling and dumping were not prevented was bekilled by the polluted water. Without ruling out those factors above , the notioncan not be a convinced one.

In the second place, the two islands'conditions are not similar enough to lend strong support to the analogy.Firstly, the marine near the Omni may be and the rubbishes dumped into the seamay not deposit quickly , so dumping and offshore oil drilling were notpermitted. Secondly, the climate of the two different island may vary sharplywhich is the main factor of the population of fish. Thirdly, it is possiblethat the majority of fish lived within 10 miles of Omni, while the most of fishlived out of 20 miles of Tria, so the fish near Omni was protected but thatnear Tria  exposed to the polluted water.

In the third place, the author waspresenting a false dilemma by imposing an either or choice. Even if it is acceptablethat various conditions of the two island are the same , it is unwarranted toassert that the decline in fish populations in Tira's waters is the result of overfishing, not pollution. Since, the decline in fish population may be cause by huntingof the mammals, the change of the climate, the geologic movement under themarine. Beside the report of Omni explicate that there was no significantdecline, may the report of Omni did any research on their fish population andactually the amount of fish descend sharply.

To sum up, this argument is not credibilitybecause if suffers from several fatal fallacies and the evidence cited in theanalysis does not lend strong support to what the author maintain,.
