"How children are socialized today determines the destiny of society. Unfortunately, we have not yet learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society."
Outline:
1.       I agree the statement partly.
2.       In the first place, socializing contains two claims: how to deal with the other people
                                                                               how to deal with oneself
3.       Secondary, I don’t agree that we have not yet learned how to raise children. We have received some good effect of raise children, like teaching children that people should be honest.
4.       However, we still have some problems, like decorum.
5.       In sum, there is still a long way for a good society.
Children are the future. No matter how to educate them, or how to raise them, they would be the mainstay of our society when they grow up. So I agree with the statement of the speaker that how children are socialized today determines the destiny of society. But it is said that we have not yet learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society. I think this is not general. To better present my opinion let me illustrate it in details.
In the first place, society is composed of people who are living the same world and have to face to dealings and communications with the others. In my opinion, socializing children actually consist of two aspects: that teach children how to deal with the relationship to the others and let children know how to make themselves competent living in the society. All of these determine the manners of these to-be adults about living and dealing with things around them. And the manners would determine the direction of social developing. And it is easier to receive new minds and come into new habit by children than adults.
Secondary, the speaker asserted that we have not yet learned how to raise children. I do not agree with this. Human beings have a long history, and every aspect of relationship between persons or groups has developed better and better. Some bad events had ever happened, like autarchy and oppressing, and then the society became worse and worse, and at last went into a corner. After a huge innovation, the society have become better, even they are not extinguished somewhere. It happened because the predecessors had educated the followers with the bad experience. For another instance, the credit is very important in government, business, science and other areas of our society in the world now. It is the best bridge between persons who have to communicate with each other. Nowadays, a lot of countries have emphasized the credit-education on children. Teachers tell children that everyone should be honest and anyone would be out of school if he or she is confirmed rigged the first day when these little people get into school. With these children growing up, the society will be better because more credit between every people.
However, there are still some problems we need to solve even if we have got some success on socializing children, especially in underdevelopment and developing countries. Consider, for example, decorum. It is a standard of deeds in the world at some certain bearings. If everyone learns it, the efficiency of work would be increased significantly. But in some countries, not every one has paid attention on the decorum. Some people even think it is too affected. Of course, these people would not give any good expression to others, let alone communication. But if we teach children how to respect the others and what is decorum, they will make a more harmonious society when they grow up.
In sum, how children are socialized today determines the destiny of society. So how to raise children decide our own future. We have got some good results and accumulate lots of effected experience, but there is still a long way in front of us.

The following appeared in an editorial in a business magazine.
"Although the sales of Whirlwind video games have declined over the past two years, a recent survey of video-game players suggests that this sales trend is about to be reversed. The survey asked video-game players what features they thought were most important in a video game. According to the survey, players prefer games that provide lifelike graphics, which require the most up-to-date computers. Whirlwind has just introduced several such games with an extensive advertising campaign directed at people 10 to 25 years old, the age-group most likely to play video games. It follows, then, that the sales of Whirlwind video games are likely to increase dramatically in the next few months.
