This time, I pat your essay!
A scandal is a widely publicized incident involving allegations of wrong-doing, disgrace, or moral outrage. Since people with a human nature are cautious to care about those, I agree with the speaker that scandal focus our attention on problems in ways that no speaker or former ever could. Nevertheless, unduly focusing on scandals may bring harm both to (to both)individual and society.
One reason in favor of the statement is that scandals attract public’s attentions to the problems that covered under the fact and outside(It’s Chin-english). Scandals usually reveal the misconduct of the term or personal behavior, the inherent problem of the person involved in the matter and the potential flaw of the relevant regulation(that) are disclosed until the scandal are exposed. Take the(delete) academic area for example--the scandal of J Hendrik Schön working in Bell Labs. He forged large mount of figures and dates –the dates were so perfect that different experiments had identical noise in his research paper(noise in paper?? I know what you want to say, but it is not native). After the scandals(were disclosed), Bell Labs made formal policy(made policy??, make is a simple word, you could change it into enact) on how to handle cases of research misconduct, while it did not exist when the matter arose. At the same time, the public emphasis more responsibility of the professors who check and prove the faking papers. Thus, with the benefits of the scandal, our academic realm becomes more serious and equal.
Having recognized exposing scandals often serve the interest of academic and science, too much attention was paid to scandals may waste various material and force, particularly, when the scandal involves politic, it may destroy the prestige of the government(what the subject of HAVING RECOGNIZED? It has logical error). The great sum of funds for pursuing scandal could be applied for addressing more pressing social problems, such unemployment, hungry and environment and so forth. The mass media should take the responsibility of bringing the society pay more attentions to education and economy rather than to the forging data in academic and accounting. If the nation is in war or during general collection time, too many scandals about politicians may determine the reputation and prestige of the political authority and results in public panic. Convinced the behavior of the politic leaders, people could lose heart in state and behave in a way lay more stress in personal interest and less in broader interest of the democratic system.
At the same time, too much personal scandals about an individual give a fatal bow to him or her.
Since the scandals often involve in personal foible and details concerning personal life, when facing this trouble, people are more likely to withhold this information and they hope others know nothing of it. For example, several years ago, a man was sentenced for 8 years because of drag trafficking. And now, the man has been a good person and made a contribution to his community and society, but some one usually remind the earlier scandal about him, and have a prejudice on him and offer him no equal rights. What can he do? His owning happiness and life are destroyed, he becomes to suspect the life and society, even he may follow the same old disastrous road. So, he is the sacrifice of scandal.
To sum up, as mentioned above, scandal is a two-edged weapon, it can focus our attention to the problems that never recognized and disclosed, while too many scandal may undermine the reputation of the government and may harm the common citizenry. So, we should keep a balance on uncovering scandals and covering scandals.
Totally, it is a good essay! If you could choose advance word and avoid lowclass mistakes, it will be better! Come ON! |
