我申请了4个学校,套了仨,一个杳无音讯,另外两个昨天天下午刚发的今天都收到回信,不过都是很客气地说正在看材料,材料很多,需要很长时间啥啥啥~~

I applied for Econ Ph.D, it seems Tao Ci doesn't work at all. No professor replied and a few of them forward my e-mai to the secretary.

I guess Tao Ci should depend on majors. For some science majors it may be very important, because you must involve in professors' research projects from the beginning, so they want to learn you before accepting you into their groups. But for some social science  majors such as Econ, you usually don't have chances to participate in research (some schools on fellowship, some schools on TAship. I haven't heard any school the first year students on RAships.)

So, try hard, at least it doesn't hurt you!

要套要套。TA也是跟着教授走的，一定要套

其实我自己也知道陶瓷的重要性，可就是望而却步了。发了三封信，都没理我，呜呜

直接闯上门去不太好吧，我也没那个胆子。
