Does society not place enough emphasis on the intellect, such as reasoning and cognitive skills, as the speaker maintains? In my opinion the speaker unfairly generalizes. In some aspects, particularly in education, we have found intellect plays a more important role. On the other hand, the society should not overemhapsis on intellecture and neglects other aspects which are also useful for our society.

In modern society, intellect is becoming a crucial factor to evalue individual or helps us to improve our world better. For example, our society pays more attention to educating and invests more money to enforce our different education levels. In modern China, our government takes some special projects and measures, such as "XIWANG project" and "CHUNLEI action", to develop our country education and students’ intellective cultivation. And many talented students have been supplied great opportunity to study in universities or professional institutions and develop their talent to largest extent, while in the last time they might lose the chance to be educated owing to tuition problems and become a normal person in the society. In China, the government understands that only education and develop students' intellect can make our country's future bright.

On the other hand, our society needs the people, who have the great intellect, to improve and promote our world's developments. For instance, many great creativities and innovations were made by the brilliant scientists, such as Newton, Einstein and so on. And we can find that their achievements are nearly all from their incredible intellect. Newton built the gravity theory from a falling apple and Einstein constructed the relative theory though his unique intellect and, especially the reasoning and cognitive abilities. In short, since the society understands its development might be accelerated and promoted by excellent people's intellect, it should place enough emphasis on the intellect.

Finally, overemphasis the intellective cultivation is also harmful for society. If we just pay our attention to emphasizing on the intellect, we might neglect other important aspects, particularly cooperate ability and independent ability, can also impact our society badly. And without these aspects' developments, the intellect cannot also do its best to construct the society as many people expected. It is hard to image that a person, cannot plan his/her life better, can improve and construct our society greater. In the end, for the world's future, the society should also place enough emphasis on other aspects which can affect our world.

In sum, the intellect is an important aspect to construct our society and deserves to place enough emphasis. However, other aspects, effected our world in the same time, cannot be neglected. Only if the society takes into accounting all of these aspects and places emphasis on these aspects evenly, our world can develop great and bright.
